7:00 PM
@PrabhjotSingh Far away...
India is a bit larger than Europe.
In Europe, everything is within 1 day driving distance from the center.

@Fabby See Ropar in Punjab.

so 2 days driving from Portugal to Norway...
@PrabhjotSingh Rupnagar?

If you come Bombay, I would try to see you there.
@Fabby Yes, yes

@PrabhjotSingh And @FaheemMitha too!

@Fabby Yes, of course but tell us in advance.

7:03 PM
I should say Mumbai...
@PrabhjotSingh I will!
Tons of people to visit!

One reason Bombay is far from me. second, I would learn some angrezi.
@Fabby Bombay is okay.

@PrabhjotSingh I know just two hindi words:
Dhanyewaad and Namaste.
I've been told it's enough to visit India.
Bengaluru I have to spend at least 2 weeks to see everyone I promised to see.
Mumbai is still open for discussion: I only need to cook for Faheem and bring rreal Belgian chocolate.

@Fabby Yes, These are enough for introduction. Plus people would speak in English trying to impress foreigners.

If you come, whisky too.
@PrabhjotSingh I've been told English is more prevalent than Hindi.

@Fabby Yes, In Both cities yes. But not most parts of India.
I don't speak Hindi. My Hindi is not very good

7:08 PM
@PrabhjotSingh So which languages do you speak except English?
I've found that most Indians speak 3-4 languages...

@Fabby If you come with empty hands, that would be enough. You are important, not these things. We can buy them in Bombay.
@Fabby I speak only Punjabi. But I can read Hindi, English (angrezi) and Urdu.

@PrabhjotSingh I'd bring you something you cannot buy in Mumbai
@PrabhjotSingh Urdu???
That's South-Indian!
How come?

@Fabby OK, but you are coming that is more valuable than anything else to us.

@PrabhjotSingh You can read and write, but not speak English???
@PrabhjotSingh I mean: India is the best country in the world (according to the Beatles)...
So far for me: South Africa is the top country in the world...
:-) ;-)

@Fabby See Pakistan 's national language, Urdu and Hindi are slightly different. If you know Hindi you can understand Urdu.

7:14 PM
The top city so far is København
@PrabhjotSingh Ah? I've been told by a native Urdu speaker (Hariprasath) that Urdu was South Indian...
@PrabhjotSingh Like American English and English?
Or more like Scottish and English?
Or worse?

@Fabby Yes, I know only Punjabi speakers. Whenever I go to Hindi speaking area I speak Punjabi, they understand with slight difficulty but they like Punjabi speakers.

@PrabhjotSingh Yeah, the only Punjabi I know is Chukria.
A little bit different from Dhanyewaad.
0:-)

@Fabby Yes, We are United by diversity. Plurality is our strength.

Smoke! BRB...

@Fabby Shuk-riya (In fact Urdu word).

7:23 PM
@PrabhjotSingh Intersting...
I've never seen it written down...
Only heard it... So does that mean it means more than "thank you"?
E.G. "Thank you very much"

Arabic is pronounced "Chokran"
FWIW...
:P
One of the languages I know enough to get into trouble but not enough to get out of trouble!

What is FWIW ?

Interjection: FWIW
  1. (Internet, text messaging) For what it's worth.
  2. (Internet, text messaging) For whoever is wondering.
  3. (Internet, text messaging) From what I've witnessed.
  4. (Internet, text messaging) Forgot where I was....
Second Google hit, first meaning...
@PrabhjotSingh I can get into trouble in 10 languages, but only out of trouble in 6.
>:-)
first 6:

@Fabby Shuk-riya is used widely in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. One Thanks in many languages.

7:28 PM
Flemish, Dutch, French, English, German, Afrikaans
Last bit:
Italian, Russian, Arab, Hungarian.

People in Belgium uese to speak four languages. But these days only two. Am I right ?

@PrabhjotSingh Indeed. What I've been told is that Dhanyewaad will impress native Hindi speakers.
@PrabhjotSingh Correct.
Flemish and Walloons (French) will speak English to one another nowadays.
as with the German-speaking part of the population (only1%)
I still speak all, because I'm al old fart
:D

@Fabby Yes, But Shuk-riya too will do.
@Fabby Angrezi is threat to many languages.

@PrabhjotSingh Yes and no:

Why people think angrezi is the best language ?
It is a good language.
@Fabby How yes and No

@PrabhjotSingh Gimme a minute top copy-paste.
English is the tower of Bable revisited!
There are too many variants, mate, lad, kiddo, boy, ...
You need to know all of them to understand the local lingo.
E./G. If I tell you:
"Kissing ring"
You understand, but an Englishmen will have ni clue that I'm talking about marriage.
"Good name" = "Surname"

Lad is Scottish. My Bonnie lad. From Robert Burns poem.

"Forrest name" = "First name"
:D

Punjabi has 11 dialects.

The second one I only know because I once had to translate a French guy talking English to an Indian guy talking English!
I was translating English to English!
:D :D :D
and neither of them understood the other one!
@PrabhjotSingh Can you understand all of them?

@Fabby Jhang, Multani and Pothohari I don't understand these are prevalent in Pakistan.

7:40 PM
Ah!
So you understand Paki...

@Fabby That was fun ?

So how do you feel about the stupid IN PK political relationship?
We're all human and whereever on the planet you go, people want:
1. to have a good life

@Fabby Two dialects, our family came from Pakistan in 1947.

2. To have a better life for their kids

My grandparents were refugees.

7:42 PM
3. For the Government to leave them the fuck alone!
@PrabhjotSingh There you go!
So? what's your opinion on the stupid political situation?
(hourglass)
Don't overthink it!

@Fabby You know How Pakistan behaves.

Just give an honest opinion!
@PrabhjotSingh And India:
two peacocks showing their tails.
/shrug
@PrabhjotSingh So?

@Fabby India is a secular democratic republic. You can see in U&L chatroom we often criticize our government. But we are the best country in South Asia.

@PrabhjotSingh Better than Singapore...
Better than Pakistan...

I think people to people relationship should start in both countries.

7:48 PM
But don't you think it's sad for Pakistani citizens???
@PrabhjotSingh That is what's happening already.
It's called "The Internet" and it scares gummints governments!
(that was an Americanism)
I need another smoke! BRB!

@Fabby Yes, despite everything they are sons and daughters of this planet.
@Fabby See what their minister was saying in US in 2017.

@PrabhjotSingh Exactly!
@PrabhjotSingh reading...
@PrabhjotSingh Thank you for that...
Sad indeed.
Have you ever read "Confessions of an economic hit man"?

@Fabby No, I would read if you say this is must read

@Fabby This man is from Belgium. We are proud of him. See he speaks Hindi better than me.
@Fabby Torrent doesn't work here.

8:00 PM
@PrabhjotSingh Watching
@PrabhjotSingh Do you have an email address?
12.7 MB
FTP? Something else?

@Fabby Pardon ?

@PrabhjotSingh Does your email accept files of 12.7 MB?
lemme zip it and see how much it takes then.
12.1 MB...
:-(
Most mail systems do not accept files > 10MB

@PrabhjotSingh Revised version.
I have the original 1st print, which is better.

I will take 400 rupees from you in Bombay. :-)

8:04 PM
No clue how much that is.
Lemme calculate
@PrabhjotSingh I'll send you 5€ in cash.

@Fabby I will never spend that 5 euros.
How is video? @FaheemMitha

@PrabhjotSingh You can go to any bank and have it converted to 410 rupees in cash.
>:-)

@Fabby This was prevalent before globalization. If your brother or sister would give you money, you would not spend until you see them again after many years. That note was a token of love. This is gone though now.

@PrabhjotSingh Funny!
I'll give you 400 rupees in cash then!

@Fabby People would cry after holding that note. Brother or sister is more important than money.

8:14 PM
@PrabhjotSingh More important you read the book, but I'm still williong to send to you for free...
What is the limit of your email system?

Yes, You owe me 400. Take it from you in Bombay.
@Fabby don't worry. I will get this by 22 Feb. Mine is Google email, there would be some IPR issue.

@PrabhjotSingh Uhuh...

Adios

8:39 PM
Ciao!
