You'd probably be really good at it. Far better than the single current candidate we have.

I think there are people who are more active and better suited temperament wise.

That being said, if that guy is going to win by default, I'd probably put my name in.

But I'm pretty sure someone else will.

I mean, I just posted an answer for the first time in 16 months. I'm hardly active. But I'd sure put my name in to stop that guy from winning too XD

@RayMairlot and @cegaton I completely understand, and am thankful for what you do and have done for this site. Stick around in whatever capacity you can and keep helping out. You both have been performing "moderator" functions for years. Again thank you for what you both have done. (in a selfish way I still wish you'd run.)

@DuarteFarrajotaRamos please do think about it. I'll give you 5 days :) Really though, Ray, cegaton, and some others do not want the position. We need somebody who knows the site well. (aka you'd fit perfectly)

@batFINGER I agree Duarte would be a good choice. Still you did not answer my question. Would you you consider being a mod?

@DuarteFarrajotaRamos A Theory of Moderation explains it quite well, the part starting below the images is the important part. For you, not much would change you have all the rep privileges, so you already are doing "mod" functions. Example vote to delete "not an answer" answers, except if you had a diamond your vote would delete it.

SE's expectations are not really any different then what you are doing now. I can't find a reference for any kind of time comment, but like you hinted at you already far exceed anything like that. Mods are volunteers, SE knows life dedicates different things for different people there is nothing like a set schedule or daily requirment.

@GiantCowFilms lol... hard to resist the temptation to nominate, pull out the soapbox, vilify some weak googlers, non-voters, excessive down voters other assorted clowns and new zealanders, beat off the protesters before stepping down.

Probably the "hardest" part is that being a mod you are now a roll model. (yes I am a model, just like in fashion shows...) Not only do you have to think harder about every action, remember your one vote makes the action happen, but to a degree you are a leader for the site. Now this is completely hypothetical :), if you are dead set against any kind of version tags that changes the site in a way. In that sense we as mods do help shape the direction of the site.

I'll just give you a summary of my typical time on BSE. (Review! although there is nothing saying a mod has to do review, I just always have.) Then handle remaining flags many are yours :) If there is any new activity on our meta answer that. Come to chat, answer questions (like this) and hang out. Yes answering question is not in my typical anymore :( I'm just at a point where I don't really have the time, and I do not have the same desire to do so that I once did.

Oh and there is the occasional sock puppet voting fraud we nuke.

But that is rare. maybe twice a year.
