Why did blender need to make the z axis up. Its all fine and well until you start working with other systems, then suddenly it becomes a massive, super sized pain.

@GiantCowFilms Simple: think of a 2D workspace, sitting on a table - it has an X and Y axis. But now you need another dimension for height - so you simply stick on a Z, and now you've got an up axis.

@X-27 Simple: think of a computer monitor - it has an X and Y axis. But now you need another dimension for depth - so you simply stick on a Z, and now you've got a in-out axis.

uhhhggggg. picky, picky...

But more important than wether or not its intuitive, its the lack of standardization that bugs me. everyone else uses y as up.

The solution is not to switch to the standard - the solution is clearly to become the standard XD

Except that is not happening
so now I have to flip the axes

3:44 AM
Uhhhhggggggggg. Parent everything to an empty and rotate by 90 degrees. Is it that hard?

Actually yes, all this empty parenting causes problems, and no all my blender stuff is sideways, which is a neusance. In this case I can simply swap the axes in export code, so its not to bad - just another annoying bug to fix. But in other cases it could be a real nuisance indeed.

@X-27 that is funny!
@X-27 I know the bash, I read the bash, I live the bash, I breath the bash, I live the bash (well for 3 weeks anyway).

@David ... not that bloody hat thing again.

@batFINGER every year :)

... or are you a thug

no... why?

@David sounds like you like "going the bash"

probably some meme reference I missed.

1:44 PM
(having to explain == bad joke) sorry

np that happens a lot on the internet.

@David new close reason. Will take less time to answer using search than it took you to write question.
.. and do you have a flashy SE name for a multiple duplicate?

2:20 PM
@batFINGER duplicate chain.
@batFINGER "no effort" I have posted on our meta about that before.

How is December 13 only 8 days away what is happening

@vrm I probably won't use this, but it is certainly interesting:

I have no memory of linking to that question, or where I put the link or why I didn't upvote the posts runs to UV now.
Also, I still have no idea why that BB-8 post keeps producing upvotes. It was written so badly you might think English was my second language, and all of its solutions were hacks that do not accurately replicate the behavior of BB-8.

10:02 PM
@GiantCowFilms It iss Star Wars... I'm surprised you haven't gotten more UVs, considering the new one that is apparently coming quite soon.
