12:34 AM
@NoviceInDisguise Just curious, what editing software do you use?
I swear you'd see every pre-release camera in the market if you lived in Yosemite...
I actually think I saw one there, I took note of it because it had no label....

1:40 AM
@gandalf3 @GiantCowFilms @NoviceInDisguise You know what we should do?
I've noticed we've a few closed questions like this
0
Q: How to start out in blender?

TheZanyMeI am new to this amazing world of 3D modeling. I wanted to know how can I start 3D modeling from scratch? I am very new to this,I googled up and found that blender is a nice software for 3D modeling and its free too, so I decided to work onto this. I wanna know is there any background required f...

why don't we re-open one, then answer it and mark all the others as duplicates?
we could each do one answer on a different subject that we're especially good at...
it would be super beneficial to all those millions of people who start out "Hi, I'm new!"
and really cool to have all that information compiled into one place.
@David ^^
oh, and @X-27 my profile says I've reached more people than you :)

1 hour later…
2:56 AM
@VinceScalia Hmm, maybe a good idea, IDK
@GiantCowFilms For what?

@NoviceInDisguise Video Editing etc...
like equivalent to Final Cut or Premiere Pro

Pinnacle Studio 16
It is crap, crashes with large projects

Why?
I can do medium (less than an hour) projects reasonably well

True, I don't think it is plugin extensable

3:23 AM
@VinceScalia Not more than 42k I hope? THat'd be more than me too :P

11 hours later…
2:31 PM
Wait, I thought AoE was dead after III . . . what's this AoE II thing?

2:59 PM
ello

3:54 PM
ello

4:09 PM
The reflection normal in the texture coordinates node is amazing
instant catch light :D

4:39 PM
@Vader seems like @David beat me to if again... in any case here's a modified version fo your file: pasteall.org/blend/35651

@GiantCowFilms male-ware o.O
@cegaton yeah, I already changed it on mine, but thanks anyway

@Vader mal-ware
typo

@PeterVaro I have one, don't like it, no lag at all

I always think I'm not susceptible to side bar advertising.... until I end up on creativecow.net.... I feel compelled to click on nearly every add....
So many lovely cameras and software packages...

@Vader lol
@GiantCowFilms IKR?

4:54 PM
It's been awhile since I've seens ads

Me too, AdBlock is awesome
Before that though, cameras are one of the few things that interested me enough to click

The most irksome thing about after effects tutorial is the highly obnoxious intros... 15 seconds of low grade motion graphics and then some hopelessly originally unoriginal name followed by studios or productions

I almost feel like I'm cheating the site owners though with adblock

Right, "Cameras" ;)

@NoviceInDisguise That is why I don't use it
It feels like stealing
And it probably is illegal

4:56 PM
@GiantCowFilms lol, exactly

@GiantCowFilms lol, no

@GiantCowFilms legal as in illegal :P big diff

Inside the TOS of many websites it is forbidden to alter the view or remove the adds

You are not stealing content, just taking less.

4:57 PM
Which means you are violating the TOS

well TOS doesn't mean anything

@Vader AHEM!

TOS can't be enforced

You are entering into a real and legitmate contract with the owner of the website

Still stealing . . .

4:57 PM
@Vader If I don't find out you hacked my computer and read my files, does that still make it okay
?

no

Very interesting though, I never thought of it being against the TOS of the site

but that's a different subject
internet is pull, not push, you chose what you want to see, not your ISP or the websites you visit

Well it still is illegal in many cases, whether you'll be caught or not

Probably a violation of TOS

4:59 PM
@Vader what?

sort of not though, I agree with GCF, the same principle does apply. I think the whole ToS thing should be overhauled legally though.

They are a little abused, I will admit, however site owners need protection, and also to set boundaries as to the usage of their site

@GiantCowFilms idk, maybe not
but how does adblock make a site unsecure?

@Vader Now I have a question, if you click on an add, and it redirects you to a site without intending to, are you still restrained by the site's ToS?

I wonder if it is viable to ban IE in you TOS, that would be a very good use

5:00 PM
all you are doing it modifying the webpages you are served

@Vader it doesn't
@Vader Yes, but in a way that harms the owner

how?
financially?

You aren't seeing their adds
@Vader and possibly legally

I wouldn't go to the site though if all the stupid adds were visible . . . . . . . . . . so yeah

5:01 PM
What if they are doing some advertising partnership and are contractually obliged to show the adds?

Ah!
Good thought!

Adlbock started because people were tired of seeing irrelevant adds that were obnoxious and flashing and whatnot.

@NoviceInDisguise On the internet their are few alternatives... You soon find you're enduring the adds

@GiantCowFilms they can show them, but you don't have to see them

That kinda defeats the point

5:02 PM
Yeah
There's few sites for which I disable adblock, mostly because their ads aren't free to play game gifs, but rather or relevant to the site

What if you overlay the add . . . it is still technically displayed on the screen . . .

I'm sure it must be visible etc...

probably

I can only imagine the stress of making sure your adds work in IE 6
XD

XD oh wow. . . .
Do people still use that dinosaur?

5:05 PM
Sadly yes...
:/

is they are using IE, they are probably not using Adblock either.

be back in a moment

Their browsers probably look like this
user image
3

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is appalling!!

5:08 PM
@Vader umm.. you realised it is 2015 now, didn't you? ;)

@Vader XD

I think I asked that in january 2014
and mine is working too ;)

Oh, lol
I was just browsing through some starred posts on the right
Do you still use it?

but I'm not using 3D connexion anymore..

@PeterVaro Oh . . . I thought it was still 1247 B.C.

5:10 PM
@NoviceInDisguise nice try :D

I found the fact that you have to switch between it and the actual mouse annoying.

yeah.. well.. it was 1.30 years ago :)

:D

1245 B.C. then. THAT was a good year :)

@NoviceInDisguise Significance?
or just a random number

5:12 PM
A random number that has significance.
#AllHistoryIsSignificant

Did you have any in mind?

It's the year people decided the earth was flat

@Vader ha ha

lol, I actually voted on that council :D

@NoviceInDisguise I'm sure today won't be significant

5:13 PM
You are wrong, it already is
IDK why though
:P

Why, did Kim Kardashian get a new outfit?

@GiantCowFilms && @NoviceInDisguise:
Year 1247 (MCCXLVII) was a common year starting on Tuesday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. == Events == December 1 – A rebellion arises among the Muslim subjects of the Crown of Aragon in the region of Valencia. As a punishment, the king issues an order of expulsion of the Muslims from his realm leading numerous people into exile in Andalusia and North Africa in the subsequent year. Shams ad-Din disappears, resulting in Jalal Uddin Rumi writing 30,000 verses of poetry about his disappearance. Romford, London, England is chartered as a market town. The future Bethlem...

Don't bother looking her up...

Don't google it @NoviceInDisguise

5:14 PM

I won't

you're better off not knowing who that is

Yah, if you don't know you're lucky...

I don't know if I can trust that @PeterVaro, humpty dumpty could have written it and no one could prove him wrong.

@PeterVaro You're of by two
Its the wrong date anyway

5:16 PM
@GiantCowFilms :
6 mins ago, by NoviceInDisguise
@PeterVaro Oh . . . I thought it was still 1247 B.C.

Read the transcript
:P

Doh
I saw I 1245

@Vader ahh.. the famous historian Mr. Humpty Dumpty, yes.

Not much except some papal bulls and a decree for the deposition of the spanish king

anyway, gtg now, bbl, c u lads!
~

5:17 PM
o/

@PeterVaro Using slang/abbreviations/abbreviations of slang to say good by... why why why does everyone do this

The population at 1245 was probably 13
@GiantCowFilms because its kewl ya newb

@Vader At least I can attach some significance to the second number

How so?

5:19 PM
how so what?
where?
who?

when?

@Vader Excuse me Sir, that one is forbiden
Bang!

why?

Sir, Its above your pay grade
> Wait, how do you know my pay grade!
Sir, I know everything about you
> You must be terrible depressed then :/
XD

Sir, I don't know this reference

5:21 PM
Sir, Its rather generic
g2g bye

l8r m8

Sir, Its above your pay grade
--Wait, how do you know my pay grade!
Sir, I know everything about you
--You must be terrible depressed then :/
Now you can star it if you want
2

There you go ;)

5:52 PM
@cegaton I did not even know you were working on it. Also what are the other again's, that I beat you to?

@David It's just the nature of the site. There's been quite a few times wher I'd be working on an anwser and just when I'm about to post it I see yours already there! :)

lol
Same here

6:37 PM
chirp chirp
the SSAO is weird
it renders AO for wire
and wireframe objects

That's SSAO for you..
Even does it on lamps and things
I think I read somewhere that this will be fixed when the new custom manipulators arrive

Well I am using an "old" build, so maybae it's already fixed

7:14 PM
@Leathe rawr

3 hours later…
9:50 PM
