Considering that this image only needs to update when a .blend is uploaded, I can just write it out then!
and make it static

:D

@gandalf3 did you add the new design to the repo?

yep

Oh i need to pull, duh!

XD

1:21 AM
I was out in the sun a lot....
out of my usual habitat
Also had cheese covered kettle corn, cannot get the color/smell off my fingers. I've tried three times. Now my keyboard is going to reek!

@GiantCowFilms Now I'm back
I was helping out my Brother-in-Law yesterday with his buisness

1 hour later…
12:52 PM
@TARDISMaker what about all your Blender-in-Laws here?

2 hours later…
2:37 PM
@TARDISMaker What does he sell?
This add is being brutally attacked! meta.blender.stackexchange.com/a/885/3127

3:23 PM
@GiantCowFilms please dont take it personally (like you tend to do) but my guess is that the blender folks here dont want competition. It would be kind of like apple advertising the galaxy s6. Or firefox, making a tech demo that only worked in chrome! We all like blender and want this site to flourish on SE.

True, seems selfish though

it just occurred to me: WHY AM I UP VOTING ADS??

because you love advertisements, and hate programs like Adbock+

@David Because you believe in what they stand for
and want the message to be heard!

3:33 PM
but i dont like ads!

and because GiantCowFilms asked you to :P
@David They are harmless in this case, well designed, relevant and appealing.

@GiantCowFilms I know, I know. it keeps the web open and free, and all. But after so many years of really bad, over the top, in your face, CLICK HERE ads, I'm predisposed to not like any of them.

Get over it! These are not harmful
;D
@gandalf3
Dynamic to the core!!!!!!!!!
:D :D :D

sourceforge is the site that pushed me over the edge. The site is literately 8ish sec slower without an add block.

Have you ever seen dictionary.com
not as as bad as they used to be

3:39 PM
weather.com use to be really bad too

They used to have 3-4 animated adds to the page

lol, I go to dictionary, and see lots of white space. :)

@David but these adds are pngs, not flash
and they aren't ugly

@GiantCowFilms I know, and adblockplus will not kill these.

You do know that these adds could allow us to have our own featured image contest?
being that the image would be tiny

3:42 PM
@GiantCowFilms how so?

Dynamically replace the add with the winning image
and they I can replace the image with a new one each week

@GiantCowFilms do we have any control over when the ad gets changed?

@David what do you mean?

@GiantCowFilms what makes you think we can change the image?

The fact that it will take it directly off the server

3:44 PM
how often does SE change the ad's picture?

without using stack.imgur.com
@David we change the add image

@GiantCowFilms I highly doubt SE will go along with that.

@David The be add already does that :P
(changes the count)

Um.. you do know that it Must be an image from i.stack.imigur.......

Nope!
it works just fine!

3:45 PM
@GiantCowFilms yes, and SE has not run it. They also say "Must be hosted through our standard image uploader (imgur)"

@David ;D but others are using dynamic adds just fine

@GiantCowFilms where?

I need the proof (then again with my ad blocker I wonder if I can see them :))

They have been know to work
trying to grab a shot now

3:48 PM
@GiantCowFilms No need
I see

@GiantCowFilms you really try to push the limits of SE. First no border, then 2x the size, now hosted on your server. wow!

@David ;D
I added the border

@GiantCowFilms I posted that 2mins ago

I only looked back when I was done trying to find it, XD

3:51 PM
@GiantCowFilms the link is always at the bottom of the meta question where the ads get voted on.

Did you know my 3D graphics add has probably been seen by at least 5,000 people. That is frightening

:( no strike through

@David Oh
My way was much more complex

@GiantCowFilms I bet

first I found the graphic desing one
then figured out what the ID in the url ment
then applied it to movies

3:52 PM
@GiantCowFilms what does it mean?

@David Matches the question url for the community adds post on meta

bingo

http://meta.graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/ads/display/**1340**
http://meta.graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/**1340**/

@GiantCowFilms my way ^^

4:03 PM
hey @X-27 are you going to do a "dumb question" contest round 2?

4:13 PM
Why?

@David Depends
Star this if you want another Bad Question contest
5
if I get 7 or more stars, it is round 2!

@X-27 7 stars rarely happens, 5 would be more viable
(david,me,novice,gandlaf,radish,tardis)

4:47 PM
ok, make it 5

5:03 PM
@X-27 I will star it if I can recycle old jokes

1 hour later…
6:24 PM
How would this do as an advertisement?
@gandalf3 @David Delete the first one, it has been updated

No animated gifs unfortunately

Thanks
still, it is funny

XD

6:53 PM
@gandalf3 did you see the dynamic add is working :D

Yay!
*ad

7:39 PM
Oh oh
ad
...ad
...I have a real problem

8:19 PM
Newest version!
@David @gandalf3 Would either one of you cancel the star and delete the first version? (it looks worst than my latest version)

@X-27 yep

?

thanks
Now the house keeps shaking right up to the nuclear blast, and the roof starts to shake off right before the Blewey

good answers with no UVs make me sad. :( (especially when the answer is mine)

@David Begging for votes are you?
I'm sure this is a duplicate: blender.stackexchange.com/q/38482/3127

8:36 PM
This maybe?

Q: How can I rotate an object's coordinate system without rotating the object?

RyanI have the following situation with a chimney on a roof: I'd like to slide the chimney around on the plane parallel to the roof. One way I could accomplish this would be if I could somehow rotate the chimney's coordinate axes to be parallel to the slope of the roof, however I don't know how to...

No
I mean a "perfect duplicate"

9:09 PM
@GiantCowFilms you've taught me well.

@David *taught :P

grr. spelling...

Not as bad as my ad problem
Man this UI theme is ugly: blender.stackexchange.com/a/38485/3127

you just have to remember to subtract the extra D from add after you have added it, then you will get out of math and will have an ad.

9:12 PM
@GiantCowFilms the huge gold arrows do not help.

@David indeed

@GiantCowFilms this picture shows it better blender.stackexchange.com/a/38488/2217

9:41 PM
@cegaton I'm here

10:17 PM
Wow
No replies in several hours
never mind
My page wasn't updated properly
@David Sorry, Family (and money) come first
@GiantCowFilms Beard care products

10:37 PM
@TARDISMaker Interesting

Yup
When I first heard about it from my sister, I thought she was joking,
or that it was a way to be a missionary

@X-27 lol
@gandalf3 almost ready to release V1.0 of the lossy text compressor! github.com/charles-l/ltc

\o/

All we need to do is make it work with large files (i'm working on it now), then write a silly README
Then it's going all over the internetz
r/programming, hacker news, you name it

@TARDISMaker huh?
@TARDISMaker money, hmm. as in $$$ 4 u

10:52 PM
the encoding right now uses only a single byte so we're limited to about 255 words
:P

@David I was paid to do it

@TARDISMaker to do what?

@David To get there at 6:00, leave at 11:00 and stay with stuff

@CharlesL Running it on test.txt appears to actually make it bigger..?
% cat test.txt | wc -c
169
% cat test.ltc | wc -c
524
% cat test_u.txt | wc -c
135
And then uncompressing makes the smallest version..?

@gandalf3 yeah. i'm gonna have to tweak that a little

11:02 PM
@TARDISMaker hmm, whatever. you made money, that is good.

right now the compressor is doing a minor compression, but it sticks the dictionary in the file

ahh

so the dictionary plus the original length of text actually makes it bigger

BTW do you know how to do essentially this:

s:gsub("%sth["..table.concat(vowels).."]", "d")

without replacing the vowel itself?

it'll eventually make it smaller with large files :P

11:06 PM
Right :P

@gandalf3 yeah, you'll have to use a regex group
sorry, internet died for a minute

ah

oh shoot
i don't know if lua can do that...
lua's regex is stupid

:/

i like everything about the language, but i still don't understand why they chose a non-standard implementation of regex

11:08 PM
hm wait
4
A: what are the use of parentheses in this Lua pattern?

furqAnything inside parentheses is a capture group; any part of the input string matched by the part of the pattern in parentheses is captured and returned by match() and gmatch(). If there are no capture groups in the pattern, the entire string is returned. local x, y, z = ("123456"):match("(%d)%d...

O!
YAH!
gj! I didn't realize they allowed that!

11:21 PM
yay
dats alright den
