I read that as playful and helpful, but the OP did not. That's the problem with text based communication. So I guess it would be best if you used a less jokular tone with new users to avoid misunderstandings next time.

I'm thinking to chalk this up as an unfortunate misunderstanding (someone having a bad day with web forms?), and to keep my tone (more or less) the same. I assumed it would come across as nicer than "You're now here! Read this link!"…
