What single, specific issue are you trying to solve? SO is not a place to post code and ask for general improvements. Stack Exchange has Code Review for that. — user18387401 34 secs ago

If you are sure your code is working an only want to optimize it, then you should head over to codereview.stackexchange.com and post it over there. — OH GOD SPIDERS 19 secs ago
I’m voting to close this question because it belongs on the Code Review Stack — Solar Mike 43 secs ago
Maybe codereview.stackexchange.com would be more appropriate, but even still this post is very low effot. For SO, you really need a specific coding question, a minimal example, and to show what you've tried so far. — Lissy93 59 secs ago

Q: I'm want to get better at PowerShell scripting. How does my script look and is there a way that I could do it better in the future?

RyanHallCoderI am attempting to clean up my code as best I can, but I am new to powershell and would like other's opinions on if there is anything else I can clean my code up with and any tips to overall improve writing my code in the future. This code is meant to: Disable a registry key in the background so...

Q: Better solutions for this tailored edit distance?

Lerner ZhangI want to calculate a specific distance between two strings, where only ordered characters matter. For instance, from "012345" to "12345" the distance is 0 because every character in the latter one is in the former and the orders are the same. And the distance from "012a345" to "12345" is also 0,...

Have a look over at Code Review. That stack exchange community is all about code/performance improvents. — JvdV just now

Unfortunately, Stack Overflow isn't a design review service or a threaded forum so iterative question/answer/question/answer/comment sorts of things don't work for this medium. Short version: You need to use the service factory and the latest samples due to the way ASP.NET Core has changed since the initial version. You may be interested in the Code Review Stack Exchange if you want the community to help with design and more iterative questions. — Travis Illig 58 secs ago

Q: Can my method(s) be improved for filling class objs from binaryreader?

StackUser4545Looking for feedback to improve this possibly. Performance is key and this likely isn't the best method(s). Q: Questionable blog "content"

davidbakConsider the recent blog post "The last technical interview you’ll ever take". It is labeled, honestly, partner-content. What it really is is a complete crock of advertising baloney, without a shred of technical detail or any kind of measurable/evaluable evidence. IMO. Also IMO: Stack Exchange re...

@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ I guess I wear blinders most of the time, I rarely look at the posts on Meta, and never at the blogs.

Anyone here do model train stuff (I realize this is a very unusual question)?

@pacmaninbw I honestly don't look at it too often

Do you know python well enough to say if this is too theoretical?

Q: Switching between subclasses

djurgenI'm writing software which allows a user to view data in a number of different formats, and they can switch between formats at any time. I'm wondering if there's a better way to do this than switching between subclasses, and if not, if there's a better way to write this than I have. import tkinte...

@DerKommissar Not in about 40 years. I still have some HO track and trains sitting boxes.
Need to get rid of it.
Was going to sell it and then Covid19 happened.

I am looking at N, not HO, or I'd offer to buy it
I mean I guess I still could but I'm going to be doing work in N long-term

Not 100% sure what you are after here, but if you want commentary on the quality of and improvement possibilities for EncodeUleb128, that's best directed to Code Review. I've linked directly to the Asking help pages so you can read through their rules and requirements and see how good a fit what you need is for them and adjust your question to suit. — user4581301 59 secs ago

Q: How can I write a loop in R for the following case?

chiI want to write a for loop for my problem. I want to do column-based normalization within each year group, so I want to write a for loop function that first filters the year does the normalization (with my function lapply(tmp[2:3], function(tmp) bestNormalize(tmp , standardize=TRUE, quiet = TRUE)...

@DerKommissar N means you can fit more into a house. An apartment isn't where you want to set up trains anyway. N also should have less power requirements.

@pacmaninbw Yeah, I'm doing a pair of 3x6 tables with a 4x4 table between them in a corner, so I have a fair amount of space for my work

@DerKommissar The 4x4 should give you a nice switching station with continuous rail loops on the 2 3x6 tables. Sounds like it will be a nice setup. Are you building any mountains?

I want to put a river across the 4x4 diagonally, separating the two 3x6's, and making one a mountain with a passenger stop, and the other fairly flat, rolling hills with freight

Trestle bridge over the river?

Yeah, and an elevation change to the mountain somewhere too

9:50 PM
Nice

Also want a tunnel, so the mountain will likely be mis-shapen and have a jet that I tunnel through

Leave access by the tunnel so you can get to any cars that fall off.

Yeah, I think I'll leave it short, maybe 8" or so, so that I can reach in

You will need to post pictures when you are done!
Maybe computer controlled trains so you can post a few questions on CR. :)

That's my ultimate goal

This should go to code review, not question I think. ( codereview.stackexchange.com ) — lorro 27 secs ago
I strongly recommend reading through Code Review's How to Ask pages and making sure your code and question meet their requirements before posting a question there. — user4581301 24 secs ago
You should also make sure you have resolved all of the program's compiler warnings before asking at Code Review. If a program contains obvious bugs, it's not ready for review. — user4581301 5 secs ago
