Q: Parsing: Сollecting data from a book site

Pom MopA task: Сollect data from the site in the following format: book; user; book_rating; comment_rating; publication_date; comment For one book at once several pages of reviews (or more than one). Q: Movie library system

NeslyI want to implement a crud movie library system and also some filtering capabilities. Since it is so big, I have added the link to the code. https://github.com/neslihanbozer/Movie-Library. I am aware it would be extendable in terms of testing. But what else could you suggest? I am looking forward...

@skiwi Not melted to your seat yet?

@Mast I might be
but I also have vacatiooooooooooon
Since just now ;)

Congrats

3:37 PM
I'm just surprised @skiwi isn't buried in tabs.

@pacmaninbw It's just 4077 tabs here at home on my pc

I close all my tabs every day. I do bookmark the ones I want to keep around.

@pacmaninbw I do that too. Now I have almost as many bookmarks as skiwi has tabs.

4:08 PM
@Mast Yes, but you don't stress you computer resources as much.

4:41 PM
@pacmaninbw Firefox is just using 5,4GB RAM I think it's fine

@skiwi How is the response time of your other applications?

@pacmaninbw Very fast

Keep in mind when I started programming, 256 MB was a lot of RAM. I have programmed on systems that only had 640K of RAM.

i7-8700K overclocked, 32GB RAM, and more
My PC can handle it fine ;)

:) I have a i7, not sure what version 64GB RAM.

4:47 PM
So you could open more tabs too :P
Oh and 1TB SSD, I feel like on an HDD it may cause more issues too

Also 1TB SSD. HDD would definitely have more issues.
How do you find the correct tab that you want?
I have an organized filing system for my bookmarks.

@pacmaninbw It's usually at the back or at the front
And half of the tab bar is used up by 21 pinned tabs

I generally have only 5 tabs open, Google, email, ieee email, code review and 2nd monitor
If I'm doing research more get opened.
I open Facebook or LinkedIn in new tabs and close them when I'm done.
When I sync my credit card bills with my financial software I close the whole browser and reboot

5:09 PM
@skiwi 32GB of 3600 MHz RAM doesn't really fill up either.
The data just streams through.

Q: Destructive quick and merge sort

bfairI've implemented a destructive merge and quick sort in common lisp, but the code feels verbose and highly imperative. I was wondering if anyone could offer guidance on idioms that could make the code more readable, or more lispy. Any other criticism and advice is also welcome. I chose to make t...

Q: Identical big methods except the return type, Make it more lookable?

bluesㅤ Hello. As an amateur coder, i'm doing some game mods etc. I have these almost identical and kind of spacious methods, and i wonder if there is any way to make them less bloaty? ㅤ I'm curious about this for future instances too. The original code makes more sense, but i tried to make it similar ...

Q: Should I use optional chaining instead of if for subscription cleanup?

mostafawornoutI have inherited a rather large code base that was initially using Angular 6 and TypeScript 2. I've managed to cleanup a lot and upgraded to Angular 14 and TypeScript 4. I have multiple instances of ngOnDestroy where the subscriptions are cleaned up like this: if (this.subscription1$) this.su...

Welcome to Stack Overflow! Please take the tour. We don't do overall advice here. I would say you could ask on Code Review instead, but they require working code, and what you're saying about zeros makes it sound like this isn't working properly. So focus on fixing that first. To get help on Stack Overflow, you need to make a minimal reproducible example and ask a specific question. See How to Ask. If you end up posting on CR afterwards, they work differently from SO, so check out their tour and How to Ask page. — wjandrea 28 secs ago

@Duga Picky picky, but at least they got the part about CR correct.

ಠ_ಠ "lookable"? ಠ_ಠ
obviously there are entries on urban dictionary, wiktionary, etc...

@Duga I may have done something inappropriate, I thanked @wjandrea for his comment.
@wjandrea Welcome to the Code Review Chat Room.

thanks! Just wondering what this was after you mentioned it

It is where the experienced users and moderators from Code Review hang out.

neat. Does Duga send an automated message anytime CR is mentioned on SO?

Yes, she also notifies us about edits to answered questions.
She was written by one of the former moderators.

I wondered if SO had something like Duga.

@pacmaninbw were you saying "picky picky" about me??? how dare you ;)
FR though, OP's new, so I'm trying to thoroughly point them in the right direction. Maybe it's a bit overbearing, idk :]

LOL.
Here is one of my comments:
Welcome to the Code Review Community. We only review code that is working as expected, there are other sites that will answer How to questions. We will be happy to review the code in order to help you improve your coding skills once the code is implemented the way you want. Please read Where can I get help?.
I guess mine are just as picky.
Overall I think your comment was great!

aw, thanks!

A lot of your code looks like it could be looped, saving many lines of code. You may want to visit Code Review. — Cyril 51 secs ago

Please read How to Answer, and stick to questions that are well posed. We don't handle "what's wrong with this code" with a bunch of style fixes; that's Code Review territory, and even then they have a higher standard for questions. The junk characters are probably just a problem with posting the code to Stack Overflow. OP is expected to debug, read error messages etc. before posting. — Karl Knechtel 53 secs ago

This might be better suited for Code Review since you're asking for help improving your query vs an error in your query or unexpected data output from your query. — devlin carnate 35 secs ago
I tend to not even attempt to understand such code. I just reject it in a code review. — Cheatah 17 secs ago

Q: Simple selection_sort in C

Karlos MargaritosI study algorithms, and I try to implement each algorithm in C (Perhaps it would be better to choose C++, but okay) Here is my implementation of sorting by choice.
