To get the count of records in SQL there's the count() aggregation function. You should consider to use that instead, like SELECT count(*) FROM users. This promises to be way more efficient. This question however doesn't really fit here. It should better be deleted here and posted at Code Review instead. — sticky bit 58 secs ago

Nice suggestion, @Jarod42 OP, since you are new hear, you might not be aware of our code review site. When your code it working, it can be interesting to post it there & see how others suggest improving it - maybe not this one, as it is quite short, but for future reference — Mawg says reinstate Monica 56 secs ago
@MawgsaysreinstateMonica As far as I know, codereview rejects code which does not work as expected, aka "broken code". — Yunnosch 13 secs ago

Q: Typescript type checking of hierarchical types

TomI want to create a hierarchy of Typescript interfaces because I think classes would be an overkill in my case. The main obstacle is checking if an object has a specific type. I solved it this way: enum AnimalId { Mammal = 1, Fish = 3, } interface BaseAnimal { id: number categoryId: Anima...

I copied the code exactly, and it always returns 1, even for an input with 500,000 characters. That's because of the broken ==true test. Once that's fixed, it works fine, even with a million characters input: yes One | tr -d "\n" | head -c 1000000 | ./67955465, so the problem is likely with your environment. BTW, once you have it working, there's a lot of problems that a good Code Review could help you improve. — Toby Speight 56 secs ago

Before you post at Code Review, make sure to read A guide to Code Review for Stack Overflow users, as some things are done differently over there - e.g. question titles should simply say what the code does, as the question is always, "How can I improve this?". Be sure that the code works correctly; include your unit tests if possible. You'll likely get some suggestions on making it more efficient, easier to read, and better tested. — Toby Speight 9 secs ago

Does it work? Yes. Is it reasonable? I don't think so. When should really avoid use panic for flow control uses, and it would make much more sense if you just return false when the two equal in the function that is passed to SliceIsSorted. Anyway, this belongs to code review site. — leaf bebop 54 secs ago

Q: Does unaliasing have an effect to the security of a shell script which just uses full paths?

Jens KubiezielRecently I had a discussion about code security. Someone argued that one should set PATH, IFS, umask in a script and delete existing aliases (by using unalias) to improve the security or to mitigate weaknesses. The script itself is used to generate invoices. So it reads an INI file, creates a LaT...

Q: Have I implemented thread safety for this cache?

sleepyowlI've written a simple LRU cache class and I am trying to make it thread-safe. Also, what is the bes...
