What's your question? Are you asking how to solve the issue? If so, what is it? Please edit the question to include a minimal reproducible example. Or are you asking how to make the code "simple and more comprehensible"? If so, the question is too broad for SO, and you should ask on Code Review instead, but read their [how to ask](codereview.se/help/how-to-ask) page first. — wjandrea just now

I would recommend you do it your way - and if it doesn't work, show the code and ask why it doesn't work - if it does work, there's a stackexchange site for code review where you can ask how to improve your code — Jaromanda X 22 secs ago
@Prune How is this asking for a code review, it clearly provides pseudo-code and has a clear question. — user4815162342 27 secs ago

@frozenjim - Not relevant for SQList since its only with client side code (in browsers) or small standalone apps that consequently don't use a centralised database. @Dan I'm somewhat surprised your final code examples don't use data attributes for the <output> elements

@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ sorry, I mean where they are located in relation to each other
so in my review, I made it so that the code doesn't depend on one element being adjacent to another or the button being in a particular place in the DOM, etc
as long as you provided accurate IDs, the system would work even if you moved the HTML around
and if it didn't, the system would fail quietly (although you could change that if you wanted)
