Q: Trouble returning web scraping output as python dictionary

ZackSo I am attempting to scrape a website of its staff roster (https://www.milb.com/greenville/ballpark/frontoffice) and I want the end product to be a dictionary in the format of {staff: position}. It very likely can, but it is unclear what you mean by "find how long is the range to get exactly K ”Climb Up” and M ”Climb Down”?". For working code (as yours appears to be), your question is more properly asked on CodeReview.StackExchangeDavid C. Rankin 14 secs ago

I did suggest codereview.stackexchange.com for review. However, I'm not sure your code is doing what it is supposed to do. The code seems to assume that you always move forward (i.e. alt[0] -> alt[1] -> alt[2] -> ...). Are you sure that's correct? Why not do alt[0] -> alt[1] -> alt[0] -> alt[1] -> alt[2] ? — 4386427 7 secs ago

@Heslacher the code has been fixed.. would I get replies for obj-c, obj-c++ ?

@ankii Don't tag it as both. Which do you compile it as?

@ankii It depends, without seeing the question no one knows. If the question is well received it still could take some time to get an answer, because doing a code-review is taking its time.

Code Review is different from SO in that regard. You might go days without answer and all of a sudden a very good review pops up.

1:54 PM
@Mast there's no obj-c++ tag on here, so it'd go in obj-c. Though the file is .mm as I said in the SO question.
sorry for the pings

@ankii If a language tag doesn't exist, we will make it. Just make sure you use the correct language.
So, will you be using it as obj-c++ or as obj-c?
Language tags are unique on Code Review. If only 1 question is posted for that language, the tag has reason to exist. So don't worry about that, we'll fix a tag for you if it's appropriate.

@Heslacher it's really a basic change of objects and passing them around.. I'll take a day to write it all up with the rest of the app since I am just beginning at it

Hi @Sai Kiran, I'd recommend using CodeReview (codereview.stackexchange.com) for questions about optimization for working code. StackOverflow is predominantly used for non-working code. Hopefully this can be of help. — Prebsus 20 secs ago
@Mast, fair enough - I should've added that the posted needed to be edited before submitting to CodeReview. I suppose my comment was more of a principle matter (code problems = SO, code optimization = CR). But I'll keep your comment in mind for later — Prebsus 43 secs ago

Unfortunately, code review is not something that Stack Overflow can help you with. Please consider posting this on codereview.stackexchange.com, where people can help review your code for correctness. Welcome to CHAPTER #2 of The Loop, a blog series from the Stack Overflow Community team. This post is a deep-dive into how satisfied users are with Stack Overflow.

We’re excited to share research highlights about the work we’ve been doing to understand how satisfied people are with Stack Overflow. We’ve been working hard to explore what users like best about Stack Overflow and what their top pain points are, with the goal of improving the overall experience of using the site. To this end, we’ve launched a site satisfaction survey, in which we continually survey users about their experiences using Stack Overflow. …

@Abdur-RahmaanJanhangeer Removing is something else than simplifying. When in doubt, the original code is much preferred over a simplification. If a simplification is absolutely necessary, pleas keep this, this and the help center in mind. Details matter! Daniel, I strongly recommend against modifying the code if what you've currently posted is how you're currently using it.You may just simplify the performance problem away if you take Abdur's advice. We've seen it happen. — Mast 13 secs ago
Too strong?
@Feeds That's not how it works.

@Mast They have a point, but it's not how we do things here.

@Peilonrayz Exactly what I thought. Besides, simplify it and we can't be sure the performance problem is still there. After all, complex code tends to have more performance problems than simple code.
So their point may not even be true.
We don't know, hence we don't do that.
@pacmaninbw I've provided the suggested edits in this question. At the time of the suggested edits, OP and the editor weren't the same account.
Hence it was in the suggested queue. Authors can edit at-will.
