@yoniLavi if this was posted on CR it might likely be closed as off-topic because of the statement "[I] am having difficulties understanding the structure" which is not congruent with "We expect you, as the author, to understand why the code is written the way that it is." from CR's help center page What topics can I ask about here?Sᴀᴍ Onᴇᴌᴀ 16 secs ago

Tell me -- what is the benefit of catching the exception (an exceptional, often fatal, condition unless properly handled) and just printing the stack trace? Hint: NEVER do that. If I would have seen such code in production, I'd raise a code review alert. Printing a stack trace and just moving on is not handling an exceptional condition. — amn 47 secs ago

If anyone knows Angular, I just posted a low-hanging fruit.

@4shwin_26 For a simple program like this, there's probably not much to do. One thing is to modify the time the program sleeps based on how much time until the alarm. For example: if the alarm is 1 hour away, sleep for 59 minutes but if the alarm is 5 min sleep for 4 minutes, etc. Note there is another site, Code Review, where you can post working code and have others review it and offer suggestions. — Johnny Mopp 27 secs ago

To give hints about things I'm not sure I did right or not; do I have too many "smart" components?
Am I using the flex-layout component correctly?
Do I have too many modules?
Could my file structure be cleaned up?
(I didn't mention these directly in the post, because I've noticed when I do, people tend to focus obsessively on those points and skip the rest.)
