I think this could be a good question for code review (after you've gotten it to compile of course). — Kerndog73 23 secs ago
There's probably an infinite number of ways that a string could be formatted as a date and I think it'd be premature/impossible to try to begin imagining them all. If the code works as it stands, it might be better asked on Code Review, although it's probably too insubstantial for that. See CR on topic before posting there. As for your request here, you could put the formats in a list and iterate over them with one try/except in the loop so you don't have to nest them. — ggorlen 15 secs ago

Sara Chipps on November 13, 2019

In my very first blog post, I wrote about what a personal experience taught me about the Stack Overflow community. I said we were going to step back and re-evaluate how we deliver feedback, how we can improve content quality, and how we can reduce friction between people. I said that our goal is to have the question asking process be painless and beneficial for new people and Stack Overflow veterans alike.

During this re-evaluation period, we noticed something in our reputation reward system. We give anyone who receives an upvote on an answer ten additional reputation points, but only give five reputation points to people who receive an upvote on a question.  …

Could've been worse.

Like, realistically the worst that can happen is someone's rep could double (unlikely).
If you had 200 rep, that's 400. That is nothing privilege wise. If you wanted to imagine someone crossing the 25k barrier, the lowest they could (realistically) be is 12.5k rep. That's still enough to know things...
This is not the big deal it's being made out to be...

As usual, people aren't complaining about what's done but that it's done without their say so.

@200_success @SimonForsberg Good content is good content, answer or question.

9:39 PM
Sometimes there are very well posted questions — to the point where I'd put a bounty reward on the question — but I can't.

There's some SO questions that have a gazillion upvotes but are technically not good questions. Such as "How do I exit vim?" it doesn't include anything of "What have you tried" etc. no research effort shown, and yet, a gazillion upvotes.

I feel like posting a good question on CR took a bit of time and care to learn how to do.

I think we've proven time-and-time-again that SE is not about "good" questions but instead is about "funny" or "ironic" questions.
I.e. the XHTML / Regex one.
It wasn't a good question when it was asked, it isn't a good question now.

@SimonForsberg low hanging fruit get used so frequently.

@AGirlHasNoName Indeed. If you follow all the steps in my guide to post a good question, then you definitely deserve a big fat super-upvote.
@410_Gone You mean like every single question on Worldbuilding?

All the popular ones, yep.

think how many people google the simpler tasks of programming and come across those super upvoted SO posts.
If they are that useful to that many people aren't they then good questions.

@SimonForsberg A bounty would be a big fat super-upvote.

@200_success Bounties reward the question asker with views and answers, not with direct reputation.

9:44 PM
Isn't that what the repository is for?

I've sometimes wanted to give reputation directly to the question asker.

@200_success SO / SE isn't about the asker though...
It's about the answerer.
Or, has been.

@AGirlHasNoName Repository?
@AGirlHasNoName Common questions doesn't necessarily mean good questions.

@SimonForsberg Isn't SO a repository of knowledge?

It's a repository of arrogance.
