ehhhhh...... not exactly..... x.x
i have until monday now though, so worked out fairly well lol

@Corbin How did you get that to happen?

she just did it... it's a final project, so she doesn't really care when it's turned in as long as she has time to grade it before term grades are due. professors aren't formally allowed to have anything due after tomorrow though, so she had it due today.
not sure why she didn't tell us until today
kind of screwed over the people who completed it... but at least they're done, i suppose

@Corbin Yeah. How far did you get to completing it?

i finished the presentation and it was actually way too long, but the actual project part, i have about 20% of :)

Q: please evaluate my code - perl

user2288I have been working on this code for quite a while and just want to make sure it is up to good standards. I know many of you will have questions so as they come up, I will edit my initial question to provide you answers. So any ways to make this code more concise would be great. Be gentle on me, ...

11:05 PM
@Jamal Now I am jealous. You can talk to yourself on deleted questions.

I can do that on locked posts, too. :-)

@SimonAndréForsberg The OP might find that a bit insane :p

105.1k close votes needed on Stackoverflow. holy carp

Holy salmon you mean?

@Malachi Yeah, they need a better system for that over there.

11:12 PM
mackerel

Holy trout!

Okay, who keeps upvoting the monkey? :P Only three upvotes away from 4K.

lol

Holy monkey!

I was helping him out earlier when I was avoiding writing this VBScript

11:18 PM
So close to earning a silver badge with this question...

Not me, out of ammo. Feature request: a handgun, for such emergencies....

@rolfl You hit 4K!

@Malachi Actually, there might be up to 525k close votes needed. Since a question can be in the close queue without having a single close vote. (Added to the queue because of a flag)

@syb0rg: already upvoted that one

damn! >.<

11:20 PM
@SimonAndréForsberg i am not following?

So this means we trust the monkey now?

1 vote away from a badge!

@Malachi You said "105.1k close votes needed on Stackoverflow. holy carp"

@Malachi 5 close votes are needed per question to close it.

^^ this needs a (sic)
Holy macaroni

11:23 PM
the name of the review container is "close votes"

@Malachi But not all of those questions have 4 close votes with only one needed to close the question.
@SimonAndréForsberg Calculated the maximum number of votes needed right now to close all of those questions.

@syb0rg I see what you are saying, I was just saying that there are that many questions where someone thought they should be closed

@Malachi Ahhh.

I need to work on getting 2k rep on stackoverflow at least.. I am going to be doing a lot of editing when I get home tonight....lol

Then take that 105k+ close votes as close votes you can put in, no?

11:26 PM
@Malachi Got you to 1K

problem is that each person only has 50 close votes per day

@syb0rg thank you

@Malachi you could also work on hitting 2k over here :p

@retailcoder when I am done with this Token I am working on I am going to post the vbscript for it.
before I put it into production

@Malachi Did you upvote this question?

@retailcoder I am just trying to figure out how I want to do this Foreach Loop
@syb0rg i don't have any votes left

@Malachi :(
For 30 min. at least...

@syb0rg I am not really a java person, I know very little. but I can look at the logic stuff I guess.

I'm adding to my tags.

@retailcoder Represent
Represent = star

@Malachi I tried to explain the review changes as much as possible.

11:30 PM
@syb0rg it looks like a good review.

Lol

@retailcoder I noticed you changed the room title, but sadly this is on my 3rd monitor (here at work)

@Malachi Did you star that pinned comment of mine to the left?
I'm trying to beat @retailcoder in a little competition.

@syb0rg i did star that

@Malachi I got you to 2K on SO

11:32 PM
Dang it. Where can I scrounge up two more stars...

or, well... almost...

@retailcoder, how do I select all child nodes, is it .childNodes?
@SimonAndréForsberg Represent

@SimonAndréForsberg Haha, only a few rep. points away.

@syb0rg what do you need stars for?

thanks guys. I don't think I am going to answer any more questions though, I have 69 answers....
only time I will make a joke like that....lol

11:34 PM
@Malachi I was shocked at how many answers you have that have no up-votes at all

@SimonAndréForsberg The outspoken badge.
@retailcoder is really close to earning the badge, so I am trying to beat him.

@syb0rg I don't think that badge works as you might expect it to though. @rolfl got it but he has never had a message with 10 stars. @retailcoder does not have it but he has a message with 10 stars I believe.

@SimonAndréForsberg I know, there are a ton of questions that have very little votes. like no one wants to even look at them and stuff

@SimonAndréForsberg It's 10 different users, I know. I'm still not sure why @retailcoder didn't get the badge.

Hi all... got some catching up to do ;-)

11:36 PM
Maybe @retailcoder should make a post on meta SO to ask why.
@rolfl Have you upvoted this question?

@rolfl: On being a trusted user? :-)

@syb0rg I have considered making a meta SO post suggesting to reword three of the badges, as I find them very "It's hard to tell what is being required here, this badge is ambiguous, vague or incomplete and cannot be understood in it's current form"

@syb0rg - nice answer

@rolfl Welcome to the 4k club! It has been a pleasure observing your work and learning from you.

@200_success thanks!

11:38 PM
@rolfl Thank you!

Maybe now I can let some of you cast delete votes. :-)

A: How Can I make This Mess of Java For Loops Faster?

Simon André ForsbergBefore I get started I have to say: Thank you for coming here. Mess of Java For Loops is almost an understatement. Now, let's get working, shall we? In the below answer I assume that sortedDictionary and anagram_words is both of type List<String>. I also assume that anagramCharacters is of type ...

20 upvotes!! nice!!

I need 3 more upvotes, and the accepted answer needs 4 more upvotes.

@SimonAndréForsberg Yep. I read through it, and thought it was phenomenal.

11:40 PM
Thanks

Sorry that I can't do it again, haha.

I'm looking forward to writing one again some day :P We need more crappy code!

@syb0rg - I am not sure I 100% agree with your opening statement, but the rest of it is v.good.

^^ theoretical star @SimonAndréForsberg

@rolfl For my answer on that question?

11:42 PM
Yes... about the import package.*

@rolfl The saving memory part, or the whole thing?

I am not sure how importing package.* can lead to the issue with multiple types with the same identifier...

@SimonAndréForsberg With all due respect, cleaning up the nesting using recursion is still just a superficial improvement to a poor strategy.

@rolfl Here is an example in an answer:

A: Import package.* vs import package.SpecificType

Chris CudmoreTake a look at the java API, and you'll see many classes and interfaces with the same name in different packages. For example: java.lang.reflect.Array java.sql.Array So, if you import java.lang.reflect.* and java.sql.* you'll have a collision on the Array type, and have to fully qualify them ...

7 more upvotes on SO and I will break 200 rep in a day
someone please!!! less than 13 minutes left

11:47 PM
@200_success For this particular problem it might not be the fastest solution. But I wanted the OP to learn how to refactor code in the future.

in 13 minutes?

@Malachi It's like you are challenging me...

look them over a little bit

@Malachi I did.

I got that badge!!! woot, thank you

11:52 PM
The real question is why I haven't earned the enlightened badge for that one answer of mine...

@syb0rg It is probably only a matter of time. The system doesn't give out badges instantly always.

@SimonAndréForsberg I know. I just got the notification for the nice answer badge though...
