Before you post at Code Review, be sure to read A guide to Code Review for Stack Overflow users, as some things are done differently over there - e.g. question titles should simply say what the code is for, as the question is always, "How can I improve this?". Be sure that the code works correctly; include your unit tests if possible. You'll likely get some suggestions on making it more efficient, easier to read, and better tested. — Toby Speight 21 secs ago

Q: Get histogram of bytes in any set of files in C++20

coderoddeIntro This post is the continuation of Get histogram of bytes in any set of files in C++14 - take II. This time, I have incorporated almost all suggestions in the answers. Code My newest trial looks like this: #include <algorithm> #include <cstdlib> #include <fstream> #include <iomanip> #include <...

Q: Get histogram of bytes in any set of files in Java

coderoddeIntro This time I decided to rewrite the byte histogram counters in C++ [1][2][3] to Java. Usage is the same: if no arguments is supplied, the program reads from the standard input. Otherwise, it attempts to treat all the arguments as file names and attempts to count bytes in them. Code com.githu...

Q: Integer array sorting function

Maharamindri BabaA couple days ago I found this question about an integer array sorting method on Java without using any Classes and, although I've started coding a couple years ago (not even professional level), wanted to make my own sorting algorithm, so here it is. public class App { public static void ma...

Q: Write a program that takes an input value n and then finds the first n primes. (Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++ exercises)

One_UserI posted this before here but it was deleted because it was probably in the wrong section. Someone suggested me to post in code review. Recap, partly for fun and partly as a hobby I am trying to learn as much C++ as possible. And to do so I am trying to read the excellent text Programming: Princi...

Q: Create a program that finds the mode of a set of positive integers

One_UserReferring to the exercises in the book "Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++" and in this case that in chapter 4 number 16, that is: "In the drill, you wrote a program that, given a series of numbers, found the max and min of that series. The number that appears the most times in a sequ...

@FinnBear They may indeed be interested in optimizing for performance/efficiency, but questions on Stack Overflow need to be specific, narrowly-scoped, and objectively answerable. So if a question's asking about performance improvements, they need to ask specifically what metric they're measuring that by, the threshold by which an acceptable solution would be met (open-ended performance increase requests should go to Code Review.SE, instead), and ideally how non-performant their current solution is by those aforementioned metrics. — TylerH 8 secs ago
@TylerH The question, as currently is, should not in any way go to Code Review. — Peilonrayz 41 secs ago

@Peilonrayz I didn't say this question as it currently is should go to Code Review. Please go away with your chat bot that trawls SO questions for mentions of that site, it is nothing more than noise to us here. — TylerH 47 secs ago
My advice was not poor. I said that open-ended performance increase requests go on Code Review, and that's accurate. Performance increase requests that have specific criteria (AKA performance-based "how to" questions) are OK here on Stack Overflow. Please don't harass users with false accusations. — TylerH 34 secs ago
@TylerH If you're upset about giving poor recommendations to our site which negatively affects us, then you could just not give poor advice. — Peilonrayz 5 mins ago

Q: `BigInt` implementation in C++23

FamiuCooked this up in 3 days because I was bored and thought this would be an interesting project to work on. This BigInt implementation does what you'd expect it to do, you can use it like an ordinary integer type except there's no limit to how big the number can be (well, technically, there is a li...

Q: Calculate optimal game upgrades, v2

ayaan098This is the second iteration of the code I originally posted here: Calculate optimal game upgrades. Based on the feedback there, I chose to change the code to use a dynamic programming approach with memoization. I also made some general improvements to the code. I'm looking for ways to increase t...

So, what question do you have? If your code is working, but you want to improve it, try Code Review. However, if you code isn't working, you need to tell us more. Please take the Tour, read How to Ask a Good Question, other links in the Help Center, and Minimal Reproducible Example. — Old Dog Programmer 59 secs ago

Q: Accessing and editing a database in python using JSON

NavI am a beginner programmer and have recently started learning python. I wrote this code as a little project to understand dictionaries better and ended up having to learn to use JSON. I am self-taught, so I don't really know if my formatting and such is the best way; the code does work. Any help ...
