Q: Find closest value in a big list

nopThere are solutions e.g. list.OrderBy(item => Math.Abs(number - item)).First() or list.Aggregate((x,y) => Math.Abs(x-number) < Math.Abs(y-number) ? x : y); which are O(N) at best. The solution below should be faster than a squential scan on a large list. It is more performant to sort the list fir...

Q: Composite Pattern for putting on clothes

prestokeysWhen putting on a piece of clothing, we need to check for any clothing that is already on the relevant body parts(s). The possible plural means that we should use the Composite Pattern for the body parts, and then checking if the existing clothes must be removed or not. Some clothes can go over...

Q: How to avoid copying data from calling &Vec<T>.to_vec() on every HTTP response in Rust

Tshaka Eric LekholoaneI am trying to cache an HTTP response of raw JSON data. The following seems to work but having to call &Vec<T>.to_vec() on every response seems inefficient if the data is copied each time. Is there a way to avoid this? use std::collections::HashMap; use std::fs; use rocket::response::content::Ra...

Q: Python library to convert spatial data or DEM (digital elevation model) to dictionary

KempieI would like to expand a library which converts a DEM (Digital elevation model) to values stored in a dictionary. This dictionary can be used to create a 3D terrain in Three.js. Well, first, code reviews are not for SO, so your question is off-topic; please consider using <codereview.stackexchange.com>. Next, «each test during runtime will query the locker service for login details» is too less for proper assessment of your implementation. For instance, if AcquireLoginDetails is called from multple concurrently executing goroutines, you have multiple data races—over each of the slices,—and if not, then there's no point in using mutexes at all: just have boolean flags. — kostix 28 secs ago

Q: C++/MouseHook Improvements

Simone GuasconiI created this program that simply returns information on the movement, pressure of the mouse. I attach the main class of the project, I decided to organize it in a singleton but maybe it would be better to use an inner factory. Tell me what you think, thanks :) class MouseHookSingleton { public:...

@roganjosh when suggesting users post on CR it would be great if there was also a suggestion like "Please read the relevant help center pages like 'What topics can I ask about here?' and 'How do I ask a good question?". In the current form the code above would likely be closed as off-topic because the code is not embedded directly. — Sᴀᴍ Onᴇᴌᴀ 47 secs ago
