Q: How many substition, insertion and deletion is needed to make two strings identitical in C?

Shocked TurtleThe question was: Create an algorithm to check how many substition, insertion and deletion is needed to make two strings identitical in C? Overall, this is the code that I was able to inplement, which inclides only the insertion part: int diff(char *s1, char *s2) { int count_s1 = 0; int count_...

@pacmaninbw It looks reviewable to me. I haven't tried compiling it yet, but it looks like that usage code could be thrown into a simple main() function and the necessary #include lines added. I'll try it now.

Q: Parsing information from Excel files

nopI have to parse information from several Excel files (.xls, .xlsx). The structure of the files is nearly identical except for the columns order. In this case it is # Number Name but in other cases it might be # Name Number. Sample .xlsx file can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsh...

Q: May I post a question whose code is written in a programming language about which nothing exists in Code Review Stack Exchange?

UserFor example, Asymptote is a vector graphics programming language (which, in addition to its nice integration with LaTeX and friends, is capable of generating 3D rendered artworks. It seems that no question about Asymptote has been asked in this community, nor is there any tag associated with it. ...

@TobySpeight I see. Just curious, did you look at the repository at all?
All that code is in a header file.

12:55 PM
@pacmaninbw No, just the code that's in the question. I threw it all into a single file and that's it. If I'd known that the implementation was in the header, I'd have something to say about that in the review. Given that you've spotted it, perhaps you could add a short review (I guess heaps of static is one option, but separate compilation is surely better).
BTW, I'm going on holiday for a few days. Mostly at home, so I might look in from time to time, but I intend to be out on (or under) the mountains as much as possible! Back to work next Monday (10th October).

Do enjoy the holiday :)

It seems to me this question is more suited to be asked in the Code Review Forum. Code Review is a question and answer site for peer programmer code reviews. Please read the relevant guidance related to how to properly ask questions on this site before posting your question. — itprorh66 10 secs ago

Q: Improving efficiency and speed of my for loop

JayRSPI am wondering how to improve the speed and efficiency of this for loop. I read something about numpy vectorization improving speed by up to x70000 but didn't know how or even if this code could be vectorized in numpy. from mplsoccer import Sbapi,Sbopen import pandas as pd from tqdm import tqdm ...

Do not build a pandas data frame "row by row". Gather all the rows and then build the frame. Also, your code is a total mess. Clean up the unused stuff before asking for help, which might get better response from code review site. — AirSquid 16 secs ago

@pacmaninbw I have something in mind. Specifically, I have conjectured that two caves are connected to each other and plan to test that (and measure their separation) by floating a line attached in the upper one and then visiting the lower one to see if it appears there.
Also showing my visitors what has been discovered since they were last here.

Specifically, you should read A guide to Code Review for Stack Overflow users, as some things are done differently over there - e.g. question titles should simply say what the code does, as the question is always, "How can I improve this?". Be sure that the code works correctly; include your unit tests if possible. You'll likely get some suggestions on making it more efficient, easier to read, and better tested. — Toby Speight 55 secs ago

Welcome! FYI this is not the place to ask for code reviews. Also, it's very important to include all needed details within your question, not as a link to an external repo. Please take the tour to learn more about what you can (and can't) ask here. You can then post a specific question that adheres to the guidelines. — David Makogon 22 secs ago
