Q: MIDI editor application

ShokoNSource I made a project for a class, a MIDI editor written with Java 8 and Swing, and continued working on it on my own. However, I ran into a problem I couldn't solve and gave up. I'd like feedback on high level design/architecture, things like cohesion, coupling etc between classes. I'm pretty ...

Q: Merging and sorting overlapped intervals

Andrew SavinykhWe are given an array of intervals we need to merge all overlapping intervals and sort the resulting non-overlapping intervals. When they "touch" in a single point, intervals are also considered to be overlapping . class Span { public uint Start { get; } public uint End { get; } priv...

Q: Text-based tic-tac-toe game in Python

fabrizzio_gzI'm working on a text-based tic-tac-toe game, mostly for fun and because I'm learning programming. I would appreciate any comments you could give me to improve it. Main structure: Uses a Board class for all the game. It's initialized with an empty tic-tac-toe board implemented using numpy arrays....

Q: Coin Flip Streaks - correct streak condition

aLearnerThis is a practice task from Automate the Boring Stuff with Python. I imagine many others have asked for their version of the solution to be checked, so I apologise beforehand for boring you yet again. In brief, the task entails writing a code that carries out an experiment of checking if there ...

Q: Run Async Form in Background without deadlocking

bmadtigerFormA (see example below) is old and loads slowly due to lots of lazy-loading EF6 code etc. We've managed to speed it up with some async methods that allow the form to at least be displayed whilst loading data. Async all the way up to the event handlers is working nicely - UNTIL: the same form is...

Q: How can I make my error handling more idiomatic in Rustlings exercise "from_into"?

Kyle_S-CI've got a working solution to the Rustlings from_into exercise. Below is the required imlementation of the From trait: // Your task is to complete this implementation // in order for the line `let p = Person::from("Mark,20")` to compile // Please note that you'll need to parse the age component ...

@SᴀᴍOnᴇᴌᴀ @Peilonrayz That's exactly the kind of crap I was expecting unfortunately.
Telling people their complexity is like handing out a small piece of bread to a hungry, homeless man. It fixes the immediate problem but now you're popular.

@Duga Rolled back both.

@Mast When I saw the new post I was like, this has gotta have had that sort of an answer. And surprise surprise it did.

Yup.
We have a somewhat popular tag that we probably shouldn't be having, but that's not a hill I'm willing to fight on currently.
It's heavily misused.
Still, of all the problems you can have as an SE site, Q/A like this is one of the minor concerns.
But it will hurt quality if left unchecked.

12:58 PM
@Mast I somewhat like but agree with the misuse. I agree about the hill fight. What would make it so you'd want to fight on this hill?

@Peilonrayz Have an army with me.

Q: How to properly decode a JSON dictionary into different Swift classes using Decodable and JSONDecoder?

rraallvvGeneraly the aproach I've taken is to try calling container.decode from a decodable enum with its associate value returning the actual class. Each time the call to container.decode throws a different class is tried, from the class with the bigger number of member vars to the one with the smaller ...

Voting to reopen because this is not a "primarily opinion based" question. It is a request for code review. Although it might be better to ask on the CR site, it can be answered here. At worst, it should have been migrated. — Craig Estey 55 secs ago

Q: Linked List implementation of FileSystem directories

Hm.. 2 crabby down-voters without a comment. At least you have some code! But requests for code review actually belown on [code-review.se] . This looks reasonable, but I still pre-pend echo to the cmd that I want to execute, so I think in your case echo touch -t $ymd $fullImgPath and carefully examine the output for unrecoverable errors. THEN when you are certain the output is clean, you can append | bash and the cmds will be executed. Note that any filenames with spaces embedded will need to be correctly quoted or you'll still have problems. ... — shellter 48 secs ago

DineroBACKGROUND I have a function where i cache file from aws s3. I provide it the path on s3 and also the local path of where i want the cached file to live. Q: assert function

user222866In c there is the macro assert and while it works I don't picturality like it mainly because it has no good way for printing a string. Love it when a bug report is closed for "no webpage provided" when I provide a webpage. Apparently this is also a "very inaccurate and fragile" query "#content > :nth-child(2) > :nth-child(1)".

Q: An example of transferring the C ++ class hierarchy to Golang. Is it done correctly?

nrw2000I am trying to transfer my c ++ experience to the Go area. I'm new to Go, so not sure if the implementation is correct. In any case, it looks very ugly compared to C ++ code. Is there a nicer solution? Both solutions are executable in playground and give same result. c++ playground: https://code....

a Map will return null if no mapping for the key exists“ — You're preaching to the pulpit, Mein Freund. My policy, when I answer a question, is to provide the asker a solution that makes the fewest number of changes to their original code. After all, the OP's question was: „Can anyone help me out in creating one?“ and not „Please will you do a thorough code review of my code?“. Was it? Your critique, while correct, is immaterial to solving the OP's Q. If you think otherwise, then I suggest you redirect your question to the OP if you believe it will make his original code work.
