Q: C++: data loss in B+ tree insertion

John SmithWhenever I insert a new element in my B+ tree, it seemingly rewrites each data point with the one to be inserted, before the insert function even starts. The only possible cause I've found is that my bPLus object doesn't seem to have access to the Professor struct, which is held in each node. As ...

It's not clear what you're asking. If you're asking for a code review ("did I do this correctly?"), that's not an appropriate question for StackOverflow. If you have a specific programming question, please edit your question to highlight it. If you have a specific statistical question, please delete this and re-post on CrossValidated. — Ben Bolker 18 secs ago

@oldselflearner1959 &arr[0][5] is, arguably, syntactically correct; it's just that it is evaluated &((arr[0])[5]), i.e. tries to index arr[0]`` which is neither an array nor a pointer, so you dont get a grammatical but a type error. You can very well say (&arr[0])[5] if you want to get heat in code review ;-). — Peter A. Schneider 20 secs ago

Does the sentence Use function instead of repeated code come from the code review? Does someone (potentially) more experience asked you to do the refactoring, while (as you mentioned) you are new to the Groovy programming language, and concepts of functions and closures are not known to you? Someone does a really bad job here, expecting you to copy-paste a solution from SO. Instead, ask the code reviewer for guidance. Ask if what you have done is appropriate. Otherwise, you will give a false impression that you know how to do it, while you won't learn anything other than using Ctrl+C Ctrl+V — Szymon Stepniak 12 secs ago

Python, the fastest-growing major programming language, has risen in the ranks of programming languages in our survey yet again, edging out Java this year and standing as the second most loved language (behind Rust).

Over half of respondents had written their first line of code by the time they were sixteen, although this experience varies by country and by gender.

We asked respondents to think about the last time they solved coding problems with and without our site. The data indicates that Stack Overflow saves a developer 30 to 90 minutes of time per week! …

Q: Test the feasibility of replacing std::unordered_map without pointers but still valid iterators

LykosIt is commonly accepted that a hashmap with iterators that stay valid even after inserting or deleting other elements to and from the hashmap needs to be implemented using pointers. @DerKommissar What's an ORM

Object-relational mapping (ORM, O/RM, and O/R mapping tool) in computer science is a programming technique for converting data between incompatible type systems using object-oriented programming languages. This creates, in effect, a "virtual object database" that can be used from within the programming language. There are both free and commercial packages available that perform object-relational mapping, although some programmers opt to construct their own ORM tools. In object-oriented programming, data-management tasks act on objects that are almost always non-scalar values. For example, an address...
Basically, something like Entity Framework, etc. that maps Objects -> Queries

@DerKommissar a reason I didn't use one is in the original question.

In C#, Entity Framework means you would Series.Select(x => x.idSeries == whateverId) and it would translate that to a query for you.
