Go for it @Mat. Wedding stuff....
And more wedding stuff....

@RubberDuck done already :)
I might implement a DbLogger and append it for fun though, but I'm keeping the rest as is

So, if you search, and squeeze, and look real hard, you can shorten people's names, their conversations, and then grab it......:
You can get some interesting cross conversations.....
Wedding stuff, t-8 days, and a rubber.... speaking of which, there's a migration, and an education for plunging users.

And I was meaning to delete that message of mine...

So, every now and then, a brilliant solution to a complicated problem is presented badly, as an answer:
0
A: Multi-replacement in a string, independently and prioritized

vnpGo recursive:scan the list until a match is found. Split string by the match. Apply (recursively) the rest of the list to all substrings generated by split. Join back with a substitution, and return. Sorry can't give an example on my phone...

That is a very, very clever way to solve it.

12:35 AM
perhaps he'll edit it later

I could do that in Java in 10 minutes or so.... but, it essentially requires a rewrite.

This user is getting a bit stymied by StackExchange. They posted on StackOverflow and was told to take working code over to codereview in order to improve it. Now codereview is killing it here. I voted to reopen here because I think the question is about improving the already working code. I guess I'm unclear why a single user closes this post when the question is about shortening the code? — jfriend00 8 mins ago

@jfriend00: I wasn't originally aware that the OP was sent from SO (I don't feel like checking each time). However, the "get this fixed" sounded off-topic, and it's not uncommon for users to give an on-topic and off-topic request. If I am wrong, then I apologize, and it can be reopened. I'd at least like the text to be cleaned up a little so that others can understand the post better. — Jamal ♦ 18 secs ago

2:06 AM
well IMO the code is ok and reviewable; it's the context that comes with it, that's described in an approximative English - we shouldn't bully non-native speakers. I voted to reopen, but I think the descriptive text should be interpreted (based on understanding the code) and edited

I'm not bullying anyone; I was genuinely confused.

Hi @jfriend00, just saw your comment over on SO, thanks for the referral. @rolfl Yeah, if Loki answers. ;-)

see his comment? ... and me saying he is wrong?
playing with fire

@rolfl you can do it with swaps :)

not without destroying the order of the data though.... right?

void rearrange(char *chars, int length) {
  int i = 1;
  for (int j = 0; j < length && i < length; j += 2) {
    if (isVowel(chars[j])) {
      while (isVowel(chars[i])) {
        i += 2;
      }

      char swap = chars[j];
      chars[j] = chars[i];
      chars[i] = swap;
      i += 2;
    }
  }
}
@rolfl the order? I don't think that was specified in the question

The OP's code maintains the relative order of vowels and consonants..... it is not specified in the text, now that I look at it.
the example given is a bad example in the sense that it is ambiguous.

4:36 AM
hm.. i didn't try op's code. yeah, i figured any permutation following consonant-vowel order was OK
well, his second code block obviously maintains order, i meant it was the first i didn't try running

My algorithm is not much different from the OP's other than it does not repeat some work.
With the input 'aeiouvwxyz' I would expect the result 'vawexiyozu' from mine, and the OP's code.
With your code I would expect the a to be swapped with the v, resulting in veiouawxyz after the first iteration.... and it will get worse from there.

yeah i get vexozawiyu

when I say 'worse', that's assuming the relative order is important

i might post a comment to clarify if order is important

so... bum question, or my bum reading of it

someone wanna smoke the Bean Validation 1.0 spec with me?

if the failing object is the root object, a Node with name set to null is added to the Path.

When an association is traversed:

a Node object whose name equals the name of the association property (field name or Java Bean property name) is added to Path

if the association is a List or an array, the following Node object added contains the index value in getIndex.

if the association is a Map, the following Node object added (representing a given map entry) contains the key value in getKey
