Welcome Everyone!

@NathanMerrill Hey, I've incorporated your edits.

…Those equations are confusing
First off, why 2X for total points?
You realize that the more bots there are, the harder it is to get points?
wait, that may not be true...I still don't understand the multiplier equation

The multiplier equation increases from 1.1 to 1.5 as the number of bots increases.

Ok...so the equation is also pretty...ignorable
I just graphed it
by the time you have 4 players, it's basically 1.5

ah, oops

but first... why are you increasing it?

9:20 PM
more bots = harder to get points

that sounds like a great reason to lower the total points

the multiplier does way more than give players points

ok, I'll keep the multiplier constant, and lower the winning_score?

it's the fundamental variable that tells bots when to take and when to wait

9:22 PM
how do you suggest I do that. linear? exponential?

gotchu

something high. 2000/X or something

how about 10000/x

well, let's think about it
what multiplier do you want to play around it?

9:23 PM
5/4

ok, so the graph is 1.2^x

let's assume 10 players, so each player is going for 1000 points

right

it takes 38 turns to get to 1000 points

9:25 PM
could be more

if there are 25 players, then we have 400 points

right, I'm just doing minimums to get a feel for it

gotchu

then it takes 33 turns

9:26 PM
hmm

so, important things to note with this equation: to get to 100 points takes around 25 turns

hmm ic

how long is your waiting period?

2*number of bots

so, yeah, that doesn't work. With 25 bots, you're waiting 50 turns after reaping. A player can win in that time
hmmm...maybe they won't though

9:29 PM
oof that's true
honestly, I think that we could keep both the multiplier and winning_score constant
cuz long waiting time means
bigger rewards, no?
well, assuming ppl reap at the same time

So, the benefit you get from keeping them constant is that you have a fixed number of turns to "win"

Right
I'll give this some more thought

an important thing to consider is the "doubling rate"
in essence, how many turns does it take for the score to double? Aka, if the doubling rate is 3, I could say "I can reap now at 7 turns, or get double the number of points in 3 more turns"
solving the equation for 1.2: 1.2^x = 2
X = 3.8
so, roughly 4 turns
