Q: Do we welcome questions from websites with past spam record?

iBugThe SmokeDetector bot just caught this question two days ago with a moderate reason weight (99%+ chance of being a true positive). The domain contained in the post was matched by a partial RegEx and the question looked fine on its own. I even checked the website to ensure that the question was no...

@iBug Well, seeing that remembering myself for hard-to-study biology lesson when I still in school.

6:18 AM
@TetsuyaYamamoto FYI, one of the first words that I noticed among the Google results is Indian.

By the way, i've been internetting since ARPAnet 40 years ago.

@iBug I wouldn't use "true positive". It, also, is terminology that most might not immediately understand, but would probably figure it out. Just say something like "with a moderate confidence of being spam" or "with a moderate confidence of being actual spam".

@Makyen Changed to ... being a real spam
@humn mais j'n't'aime

@SmokeDetector Wait... why this is FP? The content is totally unrelated with the Q, and contains spammy link.

6:20 AM
@humn Then you were ARPAnetting, not internetting. :-)

@iBug sorry, being pedantic here: 'being real spam' is more grammatically appropriate :)

@angussidney I have a spam and a water and a pedanticity :)

@Makyen , thank you for acknowleging. The legacy is untold.

@humn Yes, I've done things. However, I'm a believer in maintaining a modicum of online privacy. For me to describe what I've done could assist someone in identifying who I am (assuming they correlated other information).

[ metasmoke ] ci/circleci: rails-tests failure on fe01ec0: Your tests failed on CircleCI

7:11 AM
@iBug Possible, but usually not with a single method call. That's usually something that you would need to loop through (many possible ways), getting each individual match.

I might have come up with a workaround.

There are a variety of ways that you might accomplish it, but what will be best would depend on details.

Actually I want to expand "pattern product name" to catch 3 or more consecutive words (instead of current - locked to 3)
I just found that I can capture the whole thing and split them

@iBug Yep, that's one of the ways to do it.

@angussidney Smokey definitely knows the MS ID so it's possible to post that as a comment.

@angussidney already looking into it :) Short answer: yeah, totally possible, Tasks would be a good thing to use, and we may already have all the necessary functionality
Wanna be Hacktoberfest issue owner on that one?

Any idea when Hacktoberfest is running? Because I'm going to be away for 2 weeks starting from the 29th
@iBug has that changed recently?

@angussidney October :P

@angussidney No, because Smokey never depends on it. It only needs the URL of the post

@ArtOfCode oh wow, I didn't realise that :P

7:23 AM
Smokey doesn't know the MS ID, but it can find it easily enough

The real issue is timing

aye, just call it as Tasks.later(add_ms_comment, after=10)

What happens if the post takes longer than usual to be created? e.g. search making things slower

10 seconds is plenty for a post to be created
If it's not, either we give up, or we re-call the task recursively until it succeeds
