ill probably add this one to the list of many which see a lively conversation half the years if lucky, but no matter for now i just want to make a single coherent statement. Every single SE community instance in the stack exchange network seems to place a literally negative premium on karma from every other SE instance (take "physics.stack-exchange" vs the classic for instance; surely they overlap in the necessary critical thinking and written communication skills, do they not?)
is the SE network active-user-sustainable on average across all communities, or is it drastically carried by a tiny handful of them?
i bet if karma counted about 50% more than it does today some communities might actually begin to grow without becoming reddit like yall seem afraid of
