If I want to design a part that has some functional/mating surfaces (i.e. the kind of thing you would draw up in CAD) and some freeform surfaces (i.e. the kind of thing you might sculpt), what's a good workflow for that? Do the functional part first in Solidworks, export to STL, and import into Blender? Or is there a good way of doing freeform design in Solidworks?

@DanHulme - There may be a way to freeform design in Solidworks, but I've only ever used it for precision drawing (CAD) ... I'm sure there are people who can do the regular CAD drawing and make it look freeform, though :o) (Full Disclosure: I'm not a Solidworks expert, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.)
