Well! I pulled out the printer tonight and printed something! Yay me!
The part I printed is a piece which I redesigned for a Solstice. The owner of the Solstice had me print him some way back when. The problem with the original design (in my book) is it has a printed pivot point, which is probably the weak point of the design. In stead, I've created a hole where a metal pin is going to fit through and will be superglued in place. This should make the pivot point a LOT stronger. I have some tweaking left to do on the design.
In printing it tonight, I found the angles and dimensions were pretty much spot on, except one. I need to make the part longer at the curve. No big deal in Solidworks.
Here's the part from the 3d model I pulled out of Solidworks.
I also need to make the hole a little larger, as well as increase the thickness of the part. I changed the infill design of what I used originally, which seems to have made the part feel stiffer and hopefully stronger. We'll see. I need to get the dimensions tweaked and get a pin in it, then send it out to my friend and all should be golden.
Also, I printed this in PLA ... the one for him will be in ABS or ... something. I have it here somewhere, lol.

@0scar, you might want to add that comment to your answer to hjttp://3dprinting.stackexchange.com/questions/6896/clamps-clips-for-glass-on-heatbed. While the chap stated that he didn't want to use glue, he didn't mention tape, which is not at all the same as glue. That question is the only one that I can remember that asks about fixing glass sheets, unless there is another one?

Ah, it'd be PETG is the other filament I have to print it in ... is a little tougher than PLA is, especially since the Solstice resides in the hot Texas sun all the time!
@Greenonline - How you doing?

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I'm ok mate, thanks for asking :-) Busy trying to fix/design/build a circuit to make a GameBoy play music (Chiptunes). How you doing?

@Greenonline - Well outside of my bailiwick, lol. I'm doing okay. Need to head to bed. Just wanted to say hello as we haven't talked in a while.

yeah cool. I should be asleep, but it's too cold, and the freezing air woke me up. I'm not used to this cold weather. Need to aclimatise...

I hadn't printed in a while. Went to check my printer out and discovered the extruder head/nozzle wasn't up to snuff, so replaced the entire thing sans the heater/thermister.
@Greenonline - Where you at now?

England

Ah, home, right?

Yeah, it's nice being home, but a real shock to the system temperature wise.

I'm sure it's a HUGE change from wher eyou were, lol.

I cant stop shivering and shaking

1:23 AM
A couple of years ago I lost about 50lbs ... I was shivering all the time from not having any insulation ... wasn't a lot of fun.
But not having the extra weight was worth it!
Anyway, go put on another blanket and get to sleep!
:o)
laters

Yeah, exactly. Thai food makes the weight fall off me, and I always come back to England really skinny. But with no fat to keep me warm. Then when I go back to BKK I'm really fat from English food, and end up over heating for the first few months until I lose the weight again.
Laters dude! :-)

If you lose fat with exercise instead of just by changing diet, your faster metabolism and more muscle mass helps offset the loss of insulation. I went through that experience a few years ago, but alas, I don't have the time to work out as much now

@Greenonline No problem, done!

@DanHulme - Not always true ... I lost my weight by doing three things: 1) stop eating processed sugars; 2) increase of exercise (was already exercising, just did it more consistently); 3) portion size ... I lost the weight and the insulation and I ended up shivering quite often until I got used to it.
But that's just my own experience. I'm sure it can be different for everyone.

1:13 PM
Yeah, it's more complicated. It's entirely possible to exercise while dieting and still lose muscle mass, and to diet without changing your routine and avoid losing muscle mass.

@DanHulme - I pure and simple lost fat. Put some muscle back on in the process, but it was mostly fat ... I have to say, 2.5 years later and my metabolism is still running pretty well. I've had a couple of workout related "injuries" (not entirely injuries, but things hurt to bad to workout as much as I had been), which has slowed me down some. Being 54yo and having spent over 11 years in the Army hasn't helped anything.
@0scar - Yo bro :)

5:55 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 printing that on the sides I hope...

@Trish - Haha! Yes! Part of what I didn't like with the original design was with the pivots printed with the part, you had to print it with supports, which either left a bit of finishing work, or it looked ugly. This one is DEFINITELY printed on the side.
The print actually turned out really good. There are just a few small tweaks I need to make to it, then a reprint. If nothing beyond that, it's time for PRODUCTION, lol :o)

6:31 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 All the fat you guys lost, I know where it is! I found it ;) Yo Paul, sorry for being here and not being here... My arm is getting a little better, the doctor from the surgery department diagnosed it as a sort of a bruised nerve, it is temporary out of order unable to control the muscles; it does that by sending pain signals.

@0scar - Not fun!
0scar: Arm, Move.
Arm: Not a flippin chance.
0scar: OUCH!

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 :)

Sorry it's giving you so much in the troubles department!

I use my other arm to control my left one....

I imagine ... NFAA ... No Fun At All

6:40 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 With pain killers it is doable during the day, but at night oh my... why do I turn so much in my sleep...

You really never knew, did yah.
I start sleeping on my side. Full intentions of staying there. If I stay on my side, I don't snore. Wife says as soon as I fall asleep, I roll onto my back and start snoring. I sometimes find bruises ... I'm sure she has something to do with it.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 LOL, that sounds EXACTLY as my wife!
Including the bruises

ROFL ... I'm glad it's not just me suffering from such abuse :o) (though I'm sure if pressed, the wife would suggest I abuse her with the noise I make, lol)

2 hours later…
9:11 PM
I just hold my bf's nose if he starts snoring
