Crypto 2000-2012: we need to get rid of random oracles at any cost. Crypto 2013-2030: what’s so bad about random oracles, the real problem is quantum computers.
I don't get it. Why were random oracles considered bad? What's the relation to quantum computing?

@FutureSecurity There was a general fear that our standard hash functions wouldn't actually be good random oracles
because we don't actually know how to construct them
but now there are bigger worries
