@Themobisback Good that you did open a chat.
So, yes, my point is just that there is clearly more to a non-depressing life than 1) raw physical pleasures, and 2) your definition of obsessions.
Given you asked about this on a philosophy board, are you familiar with Epicurus?

5:44 PM
Hi there, @Themobisback! I noticed that more than once, you used sentences that trade in comparison, others vs others and also yourself vs others. Do you think that meaning, when you find it, will also make your life better than others' lives?

No, i do not think that when i find meaning it will make my life better than that of others.

That is helpful... competition can be depressing.
Have you considered that it could be impossible to reject all cultural systems, since your system will fit that description?

How?

If you adopt values, then the mini-culture of "you" has a value system.
You said "cultural view"...
If you accept a perspective, then the mini-culture of "you" has a view.

I meant my culture specifically.

5:57 PM
Have you found a culture that you think is better?

No, i reject my culture but i do not have a substitute.

Have you tried to discern if your culture is right in some things, but wrong on others?
...or if your culture fails by its own standard? (thus the standard might actually be OK)?

In both ways, it's absurd.

the culture is absurd, or the standard is absurd?

The standard is religion (since i live in the middle east), which is irrational to me.

6:02 PM
Do you know what Christians say about ʿĪsā?

What do they say?

They say that he cared very much about hypocrisy, and wished for the good men to be the humble men--- without too much religious display.

what are you trying to say?

That he saw deep contradictions in the religion of his time and wanted to show a better way.

If you want to negate contradictions, you should add more of them, up to the absurd values...

6:18 PM
Three lefts make a right!

Well, he said he did not reject old testament, yet rejected at least one of the commandments

A moral commandment, a civil commandment, or a temple commandment?

10 commandments

Which one?

particularly one about saturday

6:22 PM
What is the commandment in question?

"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy"
Torah has explanation on that

How could the priests do their jobs on the Sabbath?

7:28 PM
Did they?
