A: How to make Terminal semi-transparent?

REPLEYOpen Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) >> Edit >> Profile Preferences >> Transparent background (Adjust Transparency accordingly)

There are already two answers mentioning it. Was there any need of the third one?

@Aditya it's okay to post a million answers, really. However, I've protected this question as we have a lot of unneeded "me too" and "thanks" answers.

@RolandiXor: Thanks for protecting. But the FAQ mentions that we do delete answers which mention the same thing (exact duplicate of other answers) :-)

@Aditya that is referring to direct copies and I can't find the direct copy here. I will discuss this with the other mods, but at this point I see no merit in deleting the answer.

@RolandiXor: The one by Pavan mentions the same thing. And I improved the answer provided by BrunoPablo which mentions the same thing as well :)

@Aditya, the FAQ (and I quote) says: "exact duplicates of other answers." Emphasis mine.

@RolandiXor: They seem to be exact duplicates to me :-) Anyways, let someone else decide :-)

I handed it over to the other mods, and will let you know their decision.
However, exact duplication means copying and pasting, not giving the same information/method.

@RolandiXor I still think they are duplicates. If you refer to exact duplicates as exact for word-by-word, that seems wrong to me :)

That's what the word duplicate means in this context.
Because it is wrong to you, does not mean it is wrong.

@RolandiXor BTW, do you feel 3 same answers should exist on the same page

8:50 PM
@Aditya yes, it's a common thing on Stack Exchange sites for multiple people to give the same answer.

I mean 2 is sometimes okay, but 3?

Sometimes the answers happen to come in at the same time, sometimes they come in much later.

@RolandiXor It's the same content
Anyways, let others decide
I played my part by flagging it... the maximum that I could do :)

I decided to delete it for a lack of detailed information.
But not because it had the same instructions.
That is not a reason to delete an answer.

@RolandiXor: I don't know what to say :)
Anyways, forget it and move on
Cheers!!

In future, just remember that it is okay unless someone is guilty of plagiarism :)

@RolandiXor I still feel that is not the case...

It's the way the site works, our feelings are irrelevant :)

Can we have a Meta post on this to decide on community consensus

Sure, if you want, go ahead :)

or has it been asked before

8:59 PM
But I'm just telling you - I've been here quite a while and learned that is how it works.

But @RolandiXor isn't it like Wikipedia

Well, I've gotta run :)

No problem ... bye
i would see if i want to post it on meta or not

@Aditya Aditya the final sum of the problem is - we have to abide by the rules even when we don't like it - so I can't be a bully, so to speak :)

I understand what you are saying
no ill-feelings about you :)

9:01 PM
:), trust me, I understand you too
I felt the same way many times
(even got upset a few times)
cya around :)

bye :)

adios

and congo for becoming a mod
