@AvnishKabaj No. It was the closing rank for IITB EE.

1:50 AM
Donut ask stufffff

4 hours later…
5:30 AM
Is it better to go in IIT mechanical or IIIT H ECE

@VaishakhSreekanthMenon I would say IIITH ECE, because IIITH is also quite amazing,and ECE is way better than mechanical

@YUSUFHASAN Ok, thanks for your suggestion.

5:53 AM
@YUSUFHASAN 50 50
IIITD or IITD Textile
I have to meet people
@PolarBear IITB is at a next level as compared to other IIT's

6:13 AM
@Sid Really ? I have been hearing a lot of not-so-good opinions about EE, is it possible to make it to cs in iitb with good grades after an year ?
Or is it incredibly difficult ?, that I should forget it ?

6:40 AM
@AvnishKabaj Ohh.. So u will be taking the gamble of depC after opting for textile @ IITD?

Sid
@EshaManideep i am not at IITB but in first year, all subjects are same. So, grades don't really depend on your branch.
That being said, looking for branch change is An incredibly risky option. If you are interested in CSE, take CSE. Not EE/ME/EC and then going for a branch change

@Sid Ohh...So is depC not very common/easy in engineering colleges?

Sid
7:00 AM
@YUSUFHASAN what exactly do you mean by depC?

department change I guess
Well, I am equally inclined towards both EE and cs....

Sid
@EshaManideep in that case, go abroad and study Electrical and Computing Engineering.

@Sid I didn't apply for many universities abroad
I applied for 2 universities
So....if they don't accept me, iits are my best bet

Sid
(There are certain common subjects in CSE and EE. So, it's not like two completely different streams)
EE teaches you hardware coding which is infinitely more interesting than software coding (at least to me)

@Sid Yeah I meant department change

Sid
7:16 AM
I am firmly of the opinion that department change is a burden you take upon yourself that might not even be in your hands. It also takes luck(there are profs in every uni who will mess up your grades)and top tier colleges don't award you grades unless you have worked incredibly hard.

Ohh.. So in short... Would you advise somebody to take a gamble and opt for a branch/course which they are definitely not interested in/wanna pursue(for example,mettalurgical engineering or some BS course in the IITs when u don't really wanna go for pure sciences) in the hope of a depC?
@Sid ?

Sid
No.

Ohk.. Thnx for the advice! @Sid

@YUSUFHASAN No

7:31 AM
@AvnishKabaj Ohh.. So u will continue with textile only if u go to iitd?

Branch change is cool
But I'll move into Consultancy/MBA if I don't get a depc

8:05 AM
@AvnishKabaj Tbh this is your perception from what you hear from others

@Groverkss So.. IIITH?

2 hours later…
10:03 AM
@Groverkss 3-4 people from my family are from IITD so my perception should be ok

10:14 AM
@AvnishKabaj Ohh..So u r gonna go for the tag then...But if u r originally interested in coding and computer-related stuff, then won't textile be boring for u?

10:32 AM
I didn't like coding
Felt like another job

@AvnishKabaj Yeah.
Will have to leave this city :(
IITB is awesome in every way.

10:56 AM
@AvnishKabaj But still,I have seen the textile engineering course thinking it may be related to chem... And it looked boring af... Would not be a good choice for me
Idk about u tho

11:36 AM
@PolarBear kaha jaa rhe ho

Good morning!
I've sort of a meta question, maybe it's quick to answer so I thought about throwing it here on the chat
I've an active question, and because of further research I realized some of the reasoning I had previously done was wrong and I want to update it. For historic purpose (avoiding making comments sound senseless for example), should I strikethrough the previous reasoning and append the new one or just delete it to avoid making the question too large?

Though I've seen couple of question where they just add in edit section.

@AjayMishra That's what I used to do, but the strikethrough would enforce that the previous information was false, kind of a silly dilemma but was wondering what would be the preference lol
I'll write a question on meta about it

@IanC You can ask that in chats.
Click on the link, that will take on the meta chat. This is normal stackexchange chat, I guess you know about that , stackoverflow and meta have different chat sites.

Oh, sure, I'll try the chat first then, thanks! :)

11:58 AM
@Yusuf Are you too planning for DepC ?

12:18 PM
@IanC just delete it

12:32 PM
@AvnishKabaj Think I'll do that and just keep a note at the beginning

@AvnishKabaj IITD. Probably.

Esha is also coming to IITD right

24 hours ago, by Esha Manideep
@PolarBear which place ?

Lmao they don't give hostels in IIITD so I think I'll end up at IITD as well
IITD sucks

23 hours ago, by Esha Manideep
IITB electrical ig

12:35 PM
But guess I'll have to settle with it
@PolarBear oooh bambai

IITD sucks? Why?
WHYYYY

Joke tha

Okay. Nice.

IITB >> IITD

12:36 PM
Ya man

But CS >> EE

But I'm only getting bsc chem there
@PolarBear you'll get C's here ?
Mat chodo

@AvnishKabaj Dual

I would have gone for cs
EE walo ko sabze zyada padhna padta hai
Physics math chem & everything

Hmm. Choosing CS. I don't think EE would interest me. Maybe.
@AvnishKabaj Oh.
Oh.

12:38 PM
Not chem

Physics electricity wagera wala

Ya ya
U cn strt up wd cs as wll
bcm stv jbs
spr rch
Liv d drm

@AvnishKabaj Expand this sentence please
@AvnishKabaj Day scholar hahahaha
We had Allen celebration today.
Got to meet the legendary AIR 1. Everyone seems so innocent
The whole program was awesome though.

12:55 PM
@YUSUFHASAN looks like so

@Groverkss Congrats !!

:)
other option is iit roorkee mechanical, iit ropar cs, iit patna cs
but the thing is im intrested in cs. i have been toying around with computers since i was in 2nd grade
learned html,css and javascript in between 4th to 6th class. i dont remember the syntax but i can understand the code written.
learning C currently :D

@PolarBear will u get cs dual ?
It says open closing rank is 505
What's your rank ?

@EshaManideep She has girls reservation as well.
See girls' cutoff.

1:29 PM
I'm goin to triple I T
Textile above average 10L
IIITD avg 17.41L

Damn, took me forever but I finally updated the question

Q: Mechanism of DPD (N,N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) reaction with free chlorine

IanCNOTE: As I've been finding new informations about the question, I've been editing the question to keep it up to date. If some comment doesn't make sense just check the Edit History. DPD (N,N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) is used in free chlorine colorimetric analysis since it reacts with Hypochl...

maybe I'm spending way too much time trying to figure this thing out haha

@Abcd That was for females right ?

1:51 PM
@EshaManideep Girls aren't females?

2:08 PM
@PolarBear nope
It's a conspiracy

ಠ_ಠ
@AvnishKabaj So no hostel? Delhi ke bahar ka address de do

2:42 PM
@AvnishKabaj Congrats for securing a gr8 college like IIITD!
@Groverkss I mean,if u wanna do CS u should definitely go for IIITH IMO...Even Gauran Tandon of this chatroom took IIITH inspite of a excellent advanced rank cuz he wanted to do coding

@YUSUFHASAN taking cs there brother :D
Anyone else coming to iiit h?

3:01 PM
@YUSUFHASAN thanks man
@PolarBear I know a couple of kids joining IIITD they might complain

@Groverkss Well,I am gonna come to Hyderabad in a couple of months for a shaadi,we could hangout and eat the Hyderabadi biryani..
:) XD

Q: How would one carboxylate CBG into it's acid form, CBGA?

Tommy WoldtI have a project that would require cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) as a synthase substrate, but the only available chemical I can find is cannabigerol (CBG). CBG is the product of CBGA through decarboxylation at about 105 °C. Is this reaction reversible? How can I carboxylate the CBG I have available...

@YUSUFHASAN FREE BIRYANI FOR ME

4:03 PM
I'm coming for a wedding on 17th july

Q: Predict the product from the reaction

derrick Not exactly sure what kind of reaction this is. But here's my attempt. LDA is a strong base and probably deprotonates somewhere which I'm not sure about. It I would to make a guess it would probably be beta to the imine. This is following by nucleophilic attack of the carboanion onto the use of...
