@PolarBear which place ?

@EshaManideep Delhi. Probably. CS Dual.
What about you?
@AjayMishra No, damn no.
You can't just sell them. Let's name it The not-so-boring company because why not.
Berries is duh. We need a whole re-plan.

1:21 PM
IITB electrical ig

2 hours later…
3:22 PM
@EshaManideep Oh. Nice.
265 hmmmm

@PolarBear congrats bear

Sid
@EshaManideep Electrical. Hmm. Be careful what you wish for

@user8718165 Is that for JEE? If yes, thanks!
Oh, also you're a 2020 aspirant right. Good luck :P
You can do anything in an year.

Sid
Electrical is undoubtedly the toughest stream in Engineering. You should know that before you enter into its realm

I was also stranded in deciding to take up EE or not.
@Sid Yours is EE?

Sid
3:37 PM
Yes. It is.

Oh, nice. If I change my mind and have any questions, I'll ask you. I hope you would answer them.

Sid
Depends on the questions, but sure.

@PolarBear I'm sad coz I want to study computer...and I don't think so I'll be able to...in some good IIT
@PolarBear welcome:-)
All the best to all of you for your future...and never forget SE chat rooms... XD
@PolarBear yes...was just talking 'bout next year

1 hour later…
5:15 PM
@user8718165 Yeah,I will be also be around for chem doubts. Feel free to ping me for questions(conceptual or numerical)
@WilliamR.Ebenezer Made up ur mind yet?

@YUSUFHASAN well, not really..
I'm considering IIT KGP chem or NIT mech engg
wbu?

Ohh.. But u said that u won't be pursuing pure sciences...?
R u sure u wanna go for this... Cuz it will end up being a 7-8 years commitment atleast... Doing till PhD to make it worthwhile
?
I am ready for it... But if you aren't really sure... Don't risk it i feel
If u include postdoc as well... Then it might end up being 10 years as well... And postdocs are increasingly becoming important due to competition... My dad said this will be the minimum effort needed to get sthg really good out of pure sciencd
@WilliamR.Ebenezer
@WilliamR.Ebenezer I am sorry if I scared u..XD

5:31 PM
@YUSUFHASAN Yeah ikik
You didn't scare me, I know most of it

So... R u willing to for all this?

I have been interested in both science and engineering anyway, so I'll manage
But I'll try for a branch change to engg.
in case it doesn't work out, I'll be stuck with the subject i love anyway. Nothing to lose!
am I ready for about 10 years of studies and research? heck yes.

@YUSUFHASAN SURE :-)

Ohhk... Nice! I will prolly try for IISER Pune,Kolkata or Mohali(top 3 IISERS) via the IAT stream... And also for chem at IITR and IITKGP... What I am really confused aboug it is... Some people say they leavs IISERS for IITs and vice versa.. Which of the two is actually better at BsC-MsC.. Any idea?@WilliamR.Ebenezer
From what I have understood by now... Top IISERs being specialised research institutes are better at providing Bs-Ms courses rather than IITs,which are primarily for engineering

@user8718165 No. Anyone can do anything in any amount of time. So, keep going!

5:38 PM
yeah, IISER obviously, as IIT chem is not exactly top notch. It's a low profile dept. at IITs but IISERs would be more dedicated, I assume, towards funding and research of chem.

@WilliamR.Ebenezer Ohh.. So y r u not applying for IISERs via the JEE Advanced channel?

nah. really costly and i am not sure if i'll get or not
@YUSUFHASAN do you have data about iiser cutoff rank for jee advanced last year?

@WilliamR.Ebenezer On the contrary,IISER is government funded like IITs and NITs,so fees is like them only.. And u get all the top iisers by securing a top 10k rank in advanced... U can apply ur choices,and they will allocate u the desired iiser in subsequent rounds

5:58 PM
@PolarBear :-) thanks

Anyone around I have a question

6:15 PM
@Sickest Chemistry question?

well, not really. But it's a question in regards to if it would be ACCEPT to ask this chem question
ACCEPTABLE(

Okay.. Well,what is it?

I'm trying to figure out a way to test my purchased chlorine to see if it's actually 12.5% or not. I've asked on 2 pool forums and no one has a way to do so. (since they are not chemists obviously). Is that something that would be acceptable to ask?

Yes you can... People do ask that sort of stuff on the main site.. Just make sure to put the proper tags along with it,like practical/experimental chemistry(haven't really posed such questions myself,so these tags mightn't exactly be there,but u get the idea)

@YUSUFHASAN k, I might give it a shot.

7:00 PM
@PolarBear your rank?¿

@AvnishKabaj R u still going for iiitd?

3 hours later…

Q: Does cooling a potato change the nature of its carbohydrates?

MaxBA talk-show guest of Joe Rogan claimed that cooling a potato after cooking creates "resistant starch" that's better for human consumption (This is not about the potato's thermal energy, since he claimed that the potato can be re-heated after cooling) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niwqfwA2Lb8 ...
