@John I think it will help in the future.
@anorton Robotics is not really in as bad a shape as you believe it to be. Take a look here -> stackexchange.com/sites?view=list#questionsperday
There are almost 20 sites with lesser Qs/day than Robotics

8:49 AM
@AshRj whoa, none of those are good
Note that ~7 of those are newer than Robotics
Anyway, Robotics is in the slump period. In a month or two they'll be on a steady increase

1 hour later…
10:24 AM
@Manishearth When did I say they were good ? I was just saying Robotics is still not at the bottom

@AshRj I know, I'm not arguing with you, just making an observation :)

10:44 AM
@John Dont forget, the site is a platform. It needs to have a community around it. Out of the commitments only ~50% will actually turn up, out of which less than ~10% will be active on the site. So, the community building is just starting :)
It would be intesting to hear what Shog thinks about the site now, considering he posted this some time back -> discuss.area51.stackexchange.com/q/9218/70968

10:57 AM
@AshRj The same, I'd say. Nothing has changed wrt the scope

@Manishearth The edit by Anna Lear has significantly altered the scope indirectly

@AshRj not really

@Manishearth somewhat

how?
It's just more vague
In the end, the example qs define the scope

How many emails do you get on fulfilling a commitment?

11:04 AM
1
should be
BUG REPORT

I got one from the bot and another from Robert Cartaino's id, automated too, of course

2 hours later…
1:07 PM
How does having meet and greet sessions with the max rep-earners of the week/month sound ? via hangout or text.

@AshRj excessive

Once in public beta

for a beta site
ah
maybe
not sure

once a month
wouldnt be excessive
once a week, maybe so

yep

1:09 PM
@John @anorton
@Manishearth What were you thinking ?

Well, such things usually don't work too well in early stages of beta. (I think)
After a year, maybe
Once the site hits its slump period, stuff like this will be rather hollow

5 hours later…
6:35 PM
No point pinging everyone, y'all have already gotten an email

@AshRj Could be interesting, but could also be excessive depending on how fast our community grows... It really depends.

@anorton Y U NO CREATE ACCOUNT?

@Manishearth I've been in class all day (nice long physics lecture on Faraday's Law). I'm creating account now. :)
There. account created! :)

6:59 PM
Also, I get first post:

Q: How can I use my SMD Arduino to program a separate DIP ATmega328?

ManishearthI have an arduino with a surface mounted (SMD) microcontroller: I know how to use a DIP arduino as a programmer for a DIP ATmega328. It's easy --you just pop your microcontroller in the holder. However, with a surface-mount Arduino, there's no obvious. Desoldering the microcontroller is one w...

:D

7:10 PM
You had first post, I have first meta-post. :)
or not.
:(

7:23 PM
@anorton ha :P

:)

Should I move over all the messages?
I'll do it later

Hm. The link you just placed in the new room may be sufficient. That way, we can have this be the room for all the "defining" stages of the site, and then the other room for once the site takes off. If we ever need to access this room in the future, we just look at the first couple messages in the new room.

@anorton nah, it's better if we just freeze this room
Keep all discussions in one place

ok.

7:27 PM
PSA: Please continue all discussions in the main Arduino chatroom:

Is it possible for you to move the messages over? (Because you don't own the target room...)

Manishearth has frozen this room.

@anorton Yep, it is possible. But I'd rather not do it now
(unless there is consensus for it)
If anyone wants this room to be unfrozen, just ping me in the other room. I'm open to unfreezing :)
