Worried about Paul's safety tbh.

room topic changed to stop the merry-go-round: πŸŽˆπŸŽ‰πŸŽˆ GROUP BY FRIDAY 13:00 EST - BE THERE OR BE LAMAK πŸŽˆπŸŽ‰πŸŽˆ | Gallery, but feel free to request write access if you read SQL Server CU fixes for fun [database-internals] [sql-server]

I'll try not to be Lamak

that's all any of us can do

we are all lamak

4 hours later…
6:47 PM
@sp_BlitzErik are you here?

7:12 PM
I think he's busy speaking French

ah, shoot
the one time that I actually wanted to ask him something

what's your question?

it was about sp_blitzQueryStore

oh, I don't use that
hth

@JoeObbish the thing is, it checks the "database" version first
I mean, the server version…
but I was trying to run it in Azure....so the server version isn't necessarily the database version
I don't know, I don't really get it

7:30 PM
sounds like an azure problem

I like to think about it like an Erik problem

7:48 PM
@JoeObbish so....are you here?
I need another pair of eyes

what's up?
I'm just barely here

ah, maybe I barely need another pair of eyes
so, why would this happen?

no repro (MI)

MI?

try nvarchar?

7:56 PM
managed instance

@Forrest ah

What is SERVERPROPERTY('collation')?

I was just about to mention that! There was an issue in the FRK repo recently about Azure and mixed collations: github.com/BrentOzarULTD/SQL-Server-First-Responder-Kit/issues/…
The problem in the end on that one was that the instance collation was different from the database collation.

@Forrest SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS

try doing a convert to varchar first
SERVERPROPERTY seems to be outputting a sqlvariant, and I can get similar behavior by forcing a different collation

8:04 PM
@Forrest yup, that did it

+15! oh wait....

@Forrest dude, forget the +15, now we can ask Brent to hire you to fix Erik's code

Oh boy, now I get to work with more XQuery!
Hmmm....
Uh, maybe I'll pass

well, I can't make it work anyway
@Forrest well?, aren't you gonna fix it?
;)

Only for a fee. I accept Query Pesos and unusual repros.

8:13 PM
when did you get so greedy?, I remember the times you were happy just making some puns
on another note, how do I win some Query Pesos?

@Lamak Gotta pay upkeep for the blog now.

whenever I get mad at @Forrest I angrily refresh his blog

what's his blog?

@Lamak Isn't that what your servers use instead of Query Bucks? ;)

@Forrest I mean, it's in the cloud, so it gets converted somewhere there

8:19 PM
probably to DTU...blech

@Forrest yeah, and that's the reason we can't use R yet

blog is at forrestmcdaniel.com

8:55 PM
sp_whoisactive took over 90 s to run
should I run another sp_whoisactive to see why it's taking so long?
