6:47 AM
Wow... Our room has been silent for a day (weird <-- everyone's busy on their vacation) :D

7:27 AM
Whooo... I've crossed 10k transcripts in our "bar" :P

7:55 AM
@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut nah, busy with world domination

Hello there :D

@mikhailcazi Hey! ;-)

Hi :D

@Nick "Hey!" to you too :P

@Waffle's: I'm not a barn animal, I don't require your hay!

8:07 AM
@Nick lol :D

Actually, it's pretty comfy

So, what do we basically do in chat?

@mikhailcazi chat (???) o_O

@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut: really?

@Nick okay then, you say what we do... sing/dance around? riot? murder? :P

8:14 AM
@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut: Why not chat? Isn't that the purpose of this place? You have some crazy ideas about chatrooms though.

@Nick I said "chat" - because that's what we do... :D

@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut: But that's what I eat

@Nick Duh, it's chat my dear master :)

Now, I'm hungry.

I don't understand why "chat" throws "cats"... :D

8:19 AM
@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut: Why the heck cats?
Oh!
CHild Cats
Chats

8:35 AM
Now I see. xD

8:49 AM
How do I do $ \Huge{\frac{d}{dx} \lbrace \frac{1}{1-x} \rbrace }$?
@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut: You're good with math, right?

@Nick Nah, I suck :P
@Nick That's just ordinary differentiation, right?

yup

you take the inverse and apply $\frac{d}{dx}(1-x)^{-1}$
@Nick Forgot differentiation? :P

Um, $-1(1-x)^{-2}$

8:55 AM
O_O Um that's like $ \Huge - \frac{1}{(1-x)^2}$

yeah, what's wrong with that? o_O

It should have been $ \Huge \frac{1}{(x-1)^2}$

@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut: Yup, I officially suck at calculus.

@Nick Mathematica gives me $\Large \frac{1}{(1-x)^2}$

9:02 AM
XD
That's exactly what wolfram gives me
When I tried differentiating, I get that negative. Pesky negative.

$\frac{d}{dx} \frac{1}(1-x} = d/dx (1-x)^{-1} = -1(1-x)^{-2}$

Yeah, but Wolfram & Mathematica contradicts with our results :P

No, it doesn't
(1-x)^2 = (x-1)^2

9:09 AM
Actually, that's different from my question
(1 -x) is not (x - 1) XD

@Nick DAMN!!!! >_<
@Nick: Anyways, the thing is wrong... o_O

XD Someone just told me where I went wrong!
in Mathematics, 1 min ago, by Balarka Sen
@Nick : You forgot to use the chain rule. $\frac{d}{dx} ( 1 - x)^{-1} = \left [\frac{d}{d(1-x)} (1-x)^{-1} \right ]\cdot \left [\frac{d}{dx} (1 - x) \right ]$
This kid is just 14, btw.

@Nick What? I've studied it all wrong... -_-

@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut: Nah, mugging up the formulas often make us forget the chain rule.
It happens.

@Nick heh, yeah... I can see that :)

9:19 AM
@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut: so, what up with you? Doing anything interesting than relearning calc?

@Nick Nah, I haven't ever learned math... Maybe, I'll do that this year :D
All I know are some 4 or 5 formulas (in calculus) :P

O-o Never learnt math? What exactly do you do?

@Nick I'm an engineering undergrad...

... Our planet is doomed.
Nah, I'm just kidding. You have all the time in the world.

@Nick yeah... I know :D

9:22 AM
Make sure you use it wisely.

I've been constraining myself to "not memorize" (like what I did in my high school) during my colg. lifetime. Isn't that wise enough? :P

mhh.. memorize the necessary.
As much as intuition is great, I'm pretty sure no one intuitively knows 8*7 = 56 without memorizing it.

yeah, I figured that out when I got into Phys.SE :D

Yeah, there are so many things to remember.
1 Amstrong = $10^{-10}$
XD
just random stuff.

1 hour later…
10:48 AM
Angstrom? ;-)

Just won a hackathon :

11:16 AM
@DavidZ Yeah :P
@ManishEarth a hacka what? o_O
@ManishEarth: Was that conducted/organized by your colg.? Or, you go somewhere else?

12:17 PM
@Waffle'sCrazyPeanut code.fun.do. Organized by Microsoft, but they do it in partnership with the college so they have some help from here
Hackathon=shortish period of time (24-48hr) where you have to make an application or something similar

2 hours later…
1:50 PM
@ManishEarth Woah... That's nice. Is that teamwork? or standalone? :D

2:34 PM
team

@ManishEarth What was it about? What did you make?

A sort of classroom notebook think that had rather fluid support for math. And scribbling

Native app or web based?

2:40 PM
native?
metro apps can be written in html/js
But no web connection needed here

oh... I meant- was it browser based app or something which runs on a lower level... know what I mean...?

@ShuklaSannidhya Sort of browser based. Runs on the Metro framework, so no browser in sight, but there is an IE layer behind it

@ManishEarth: I'm just a few more steps away from that video :D
(But, sadly I was able to finish only one - the basic)

@ManishEarth I made an edit here...
Not sure what OP is asking...
But I'm sure he gave wrong data...

5 hours later…
7:38 PM
What is the antonym of 'superdeterminism'?
2
Q: Will superdeterminism, if proven, make science useless?

rijul guptaSuperdeterminism states that no experiment we perform has complete freedom, so no matter what you are trying to learn about how things work out in nature, nature will tell you what it wants to tell and may or may not tell the truth as per its own decision as it will decide what experiments you pe...

Not a clue

3 hours later…
10:34 PM
Hi
?What is Hookes Law
and What is impendance matching
:D

1 hour later…
11:54 PM
any body there, need help
