@DavidZaslavsky I thought whether I shall prepare the same thing itself... (just removing those ellipsis)\
or, I shall use a different quote?

3:54 AM
Here's the removed one ;-)

@CrazyBuddy this one is definitely better

@DavidZaslavsky: Hah... I'll put it there ;-)

Oh wait, actually: it's better without the ellipsis than with it. But I prefer the way the moon smoothly blends into the background in the first picture.

@DavidZaslavsky Err... what?
The moon is somewhat larger in this one...

Look at the top right part of the moon, where the bite is taken out of it. In the last picture you posted, do you see how there's a little white (or bright) line along the border of the moon? That doesn't appear in the other picture. I'm saying I think it looks better without that line.

4:01 AM
@DavidZaslavsky Ahh... That line comes from the layer... I'll edit it (a few mins) ;-)

4:14 AM
@DavidZaslavsky: Actually, I was searching for the previous font I was using... ;-)
(Moreover, I closed the whole project first, when you said OK) :D
What do you think? :)

Seems fine
I'm still not such a fan of the question at the top, but that's just me

@DavidZaslavsky: Grads aren't satisfied with anything :P
@DavidZaslavsky: BTW, Doesn't that question bump in front?
Oops... It does ;-)
Okay... Thanks anyway :D

@CrazyBuddy this has little to do with being a grad student and more to do with having been a magazine designer during college
Which reminds me of something: it should probably say "grad students" rather than just "grads"

@DavidZaslavsky: Hey... Believe me. I'm not one. Students can't be designers. That's why I suck in designing :)

4:51 AM
@CrazyBuddy anyway, remember, I'm just giving you advice, I'm not telling you what you can and can't put in the ad. Whenever you think it's ready, just go ahead and post it on the community ads question on meta.

@DavidZaslavsky I know... The first time, I required some advice (Now, I have some thought on how to create something like that)
Thanks to you :)

Q: How to determine spatial color distribution?

Foo BarIs there an easy way (i.e. free or open source tool) to determine the spatial color distribution (i.e "intensity") in a picture or in a region of interest of this picture? Let's say I used a laser or some lenses and mirrors and a light bulb to adjust a ray of light on a piece of paper in a dark ...

On topic for us or not?
Note that if it should go to Stack Overflow, we close it here and then ask Photography to migrate the original again. We don't "chain-migrate" questions.

@DavidZaslavsky Meh... he's asking about some "tool". It's off-topic for sure...
This question appears to be off-topic because it's specifically asking about some kind of tool to calculate some parameter in the picture. We don't encourage such questions... — Crazy Buddy 9 secs ago
I also doubt that SO mods will accept this question (It's explicitly asking for some tool)
@DavidZaslavsky: Are tool-suggestions allowed there?

@ManishEarth @DavidZaslavsky: Mathjax rendering works on Facebook too ;-)
But, sadly - not in Chrome & Firefox (???), but works in Opera & IE (???) :D

@CrazyBuddy ChatJax?

@ManishEarth Yeah ;-)
Cool... Isn't it?
@ManishEarth: But, I can't understand why Firefox doesn't support that?
It supports here, but not in FB o.O

it shoult
Or maybe it's the cross-domain policy

o.O
@ManishEarth: But, IE supports that - shocking :D

You're loading scripts from cdn.mathjax.org onto facebook.com
I think FB has their CORS set to disallow that
And Chrome may not respect it
It seems to respect it on my computer
but Firefox is respecting it

@ManishEarth I know.. Then, what's with Opera ? o.O
It doesn't respect ?

9:46 AM
Different browsers implement CORS differently
Maybe not
This isn't a vital part of CORS

ah... Anyways... it would be useful for groups ;-)

Oh, you can still run it
You have to insert all the MAthjax code in one bookmarklet

@ManishEarth Yeah... I did. I made a few people wonder again..! (by capturing an image)

10:15 AM
I've just realized, there are a shocking number of questions asking for low-level explanations of E=mc^2

@DavidZaslavsky You've realized just now? I got bored of :P

Well I never had a reason to look before

ah...

2 hours later…
11:58 AM
@DavidZaslavsky yes, and there is a shocking and increasing number of questions asking for low-level explanations of other things than E=mc^2 too ... To stop or at least slow down the decreasing of the (high level)/(low level) ratio of questions that goes along with this, it would be a good idea to better support (instead of discouraging by policy) things useful for researchers, as it is done by successful high-level sites targetted at a research audience such as MathOverflow, CS Theory,
and the formar Theoretical Physics SE has been. You know what I mean and many researchers on the site agree with me on this ...

Q: Distracting popup window that appears when writing a question?

DilatonI have just noted that when writing a technical question on the main page, a blue popup window appears telling me that the question I am writing is too subjective and will probably be closed. What distracting nonsense is this? Can this unneeded new feature be turned of on Physics SE? At least s...

I tweaked my program so that I could run it in batch and compare execution times. Unfortunately, I forgot to disable the part where it displays the graph

Q: Mathematical modeling stackexchange

Brian RushtonThere is currently a proposal for a mathematical modeling stackexchange on Area51: http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/57490/mathematical-modeling?referrer=B5TWQ70QNWlDGxDR-o9vQA2 This is intended to have no overlap with physicsSE; questions that are on-topic on one site should be off top...

The opinion of good and knowledgeabel contributers to the site should be taken seriously, for example if they disagree with closing a question (or a kind of questions) their objections and concerns should be seriously considered. Just deleting their respectfully and politely disagreeing comments is quite inappropriate and disrespectful towards such good people, whom we should try to keep on the site. I dont know who did this ...

@ellipsix That looks awesome! Thank you for thinking of us!
@CrazyBuddy ^^
@Dilaton where are you alleging that comments have been inappropriately deleted?

10:45 PM
There have been some few more comments below this question disagreeing with it being closed. At least the comment of the other user has certainly not been inappropriate.
