6:00 AM
@0celo7 Sadly, I don't often see people do it

@SirCumference the sad truth is that some people are just superior to all of us
it's sad, but truee

I have a prof who I had for 3 classes, at least once a month I'd ask these questions during class that would stump him, he'd say I'm going to look into that, and comes back the next day starting with a discussion on that

why talk to the professor, that's a waste of time
0.1s of thought can clear up the confusion
these people are usually disheveled looking, or very nicely dressed and psychopathic looking
one of the other

honestly one of the reasons im thinking of only moving like 5 miles away from my university in the next few years is so i can sit in on classes and bug profs after the fact

you never see them in class, but they show up for tests

6:02 AM
@0celo7 Not to sound rude, but if you actually had conversations with the professors instead of just correcting them, you'd enjoy classes a lot more

totally destroy the curve

@0celo7 what if im disheveled looking and a tad psychopathic looking. Well dressed...eh like 5% of the time

@SirCumference why would I talk with people whose IQ is 20+ points below mine

@0celo7 That superior attitude isn't a good thing to have...

wait, why am i still dealing with this defective keyboard, the warranty replacement one arrived today

rob
6:04 AM
@0celo7 You ... you think IQ is a number? that you have information about? that means something?

@0celo7 because if you cant explain an idea down 20 IQ points you probably didnt learn it well enough

@0celo7 Regardless of their intelligence or how you view them, they have years more experience in the field than you do.

Hmm.
It seems none of you caught the part where I started impersonating a superior person.

honey im home
yay, no more chattering keys

@0celo7 "impersonating"

6:07 AM
I wasn't even trying to troll.
It just happened. I'm sorry.

I figured you were playing devils advocate

@SirCumference Yeah. I was talking in third person you genius.

@0celo7 You often come off as patronizing, no offense
@0celo7 Case in point

So I figured might as well respondy with some pith
@SirCumference burn

6:08 AM
@rob I don't even know what mine is.
@rob The star board is pretty bad, can you please clear it out?

I like the star board

It seems @SirCumference misunderstood me.

It's got some advice for college students

@SirCumference never even heard of this\
wow, moving to an exact same model of the keyboard (newly bought), I can feel the difference in the force I have to apply to each keystroke

rob
@0celo7 Yeah, I can de-immortalize some of that, I guess.

obe
6:12 AM
so excited im going to a real ice cave soon like the ones in my profile pics i had before

Thank you senpai
I've got to sleep
Got a thermo exam tomorrow.
Well...today.
Bye

'Night

rob
I'm out too --- cheers.

obe
its only 1am

6:29 AM
I should start making some diagrams for that GR book really
Spacetime topology is a field where you draw a lot of potatoes with curves on them

user228700
7:01 AM
@JohnRennie: Good morning, good morning! :-)

Morning :-)
Hey, look what I bought yesterday (pic on the way) ...

user228700
Aaah! Parathas! <3

I had not seen these before in the UK. Frozen part cooked parathas
Though since they were reduced by 75% presumably they're not very popular in the UK
I'll try them this weekend and see what they're like.

user228700
Are u telling me that u have never before tasted parathas?

I've eaten parathas lots of times. My mum used to make them.
I've just never tried ready made frozen ones.

user228700
7:04 AM
Ah, OK. What type of paratha is this one?

Don't know. Just regular plain parathas I guess.

user228700
...what is "regular" paratha?

user228700
There has got to be some kind of stuffing...

Just layers of dough with butter i.e. no filling or spicing.

user228700
Oh, that doesn't sound very exciting...

user228700
7:05 AM
What will u eat it with?

I haven't thought about it. I bought the parathas on impulse - they were reduced by 75% for quick sale and I thought for 75p I'd give them a try.
I wonder how they would work cooked like a pizza with cheese on top ...

user228700
Cheese? Hmm, I don't think I'd try that...

user228700
What dyou usually eat parathas with?

@Kaumudi.H in much the same way I'd eat chapatis I suppose. As a bread to go with a curry and rice meal.

user228700
7:09 AM
@JohnRennie Ohh, that's a bit strange.

How would you eat them?

user228700
When we make chapatis, we eat it with a curry or two.

user228700
And parathas we eat with raita.

So the parathas are the main part of the meal?

user228700
Yes.

7:10 AM
Ah, that's new to me. But presumably those would be stuffed parathas?
So it wouldn't just be like eating plain bread

user228700
I suppose this changes in different parts of India but in the southern states of India, rice is not eaten with chapatis.

user228700
Rice is eaten with several different types of curries and other side-dishes.

user228700
Chapatis with a curry or two, perhaps.

user228700
And no, I haven't even heard of "normal" parathas before so I dunno what they'd taste like.

user228700
7:12 AM
When my mother makes "normal" parathas, that is paratha with potato stuffing.

Let me get the pack out of the freezer and I'll check the ingredients ...

At this rate, we might be able to get some home generated higgs in the far future

user228700
^ Plain paratha.

user228700
7:14 AM
That's a bit strange, I was under the impression that parathas, by definition, had to be stuffed.

Checked the ingredients, and they are just atta, butter and water. And that's what I would expect.

user228700
If they are "plain", I suppose we'd eat them with a curry.

user228700
But stuffed parathas we eat with delicious raita <3

user228700
Have u eaten raita before?

My father learned how to make them when he was in India during the war and he showed me. You just make layers of dough with butter between them and keep rolling it out and folding it until the layers of dough are very thin.
Then when you cook it it goes crispy and flaky with lots of butter to make it rich.

user228700
7:17 AM
Hmm, interesting...

user228700
I probably haven't had that yet.

But that would be from the North West - What is now Pakistan.

user228700
I doubt if Pakistani food is a lot different from Indian.

That recipe you linked is how I remember being taught to make them.

user228700
I am, after all, from the South. Our staple food is rice, not wheat, like in the North.

user228700
7:18 AM
I hadn't even eaten parathas until about 5 years ago.

They are the same dough as for chapatis, but they have a very different texture because of the way they are rolled out in layers with butter between the layers.

user228700
But I've been eating rice for as long as I can remember. Rice, dosas, idli ...these are the foods we eat the most.

user228700
@JohnRennie Hmm, OK...

Oh well. Anyhow, I'll find out if they are any good this weekend :-)

user228700
OK, have fun :-)

7:21 AM
I'll upload a photo and status report!

user228700
...standard operating procedure.

In other news ... no other news really. How's life in Chennai?

Seeing reports like these is the primary reason I asked that depressurise but remain stable compound question earlier. It seems the pressure route can end up a lot of fascinating compounds, but nearly none of these weirdos are stable enough when depressurised

user228700
:-) Life in Chennai is OK. I discovered today just how unfit I am...and also, I think my phone's been infected with a virus/some sort of malware that has gone undetected by the AVG scanner.

user228700
7:24 AM
I downloaded the "7-minute workout" app today and did it this morning, after which I haven't been able to walk without my legs threatening to collapse.

Hmm viruses on phones are pretty rare.

user228700
And the app has resulted in the infection.

Unless you've been installing APKs from dodgy sources.

user228700
No, only Google Play, Sir!

Then it's very unlikely you have a virus.

user228700
7:25 AM
There is a new application that shows me an add every few minutes and then downloads the app being advertised without my consent.

user228700
I have no idea what is happening.

Factory reset the phone.

user228700
Crap, do I really have to do that?

It will only take a few minutes to reinstall the apps you need from Google Play.
If you have data on the phone you can copy it onto the laptop.

user228700
But I have so many apps and it has taken me so much to configure their settings to match my preferences.

user228700
7:27 AM
And also photos. Screenshots. Holy shit, so many screenshots.

You can just copy the screenshots to the laptop. Just connect up the phone to the laptop with the USB cable you use for charging
It appears on the laptop like a USB drive.

user228700
Alright then, I'll do that, thanks :-)

Oh well. I have to work now for half an hour or so. Back in a bit ...

@Secret nice!!!

Q: WHY DOES LIGHT TEND TO KEEP ITS SPEED CONSTANT IN VACUUM SPACE?

Ming LouA photon does have mass. All particles have mass. Actually “there is no such thing as a mass without energy and there is no such thing as an energy without mass”. You can see that from the existence state of all the so called “massless particles”. They all exist in a dynamically balanced state of...

First sentence is off

Q: IS THAT TRUE THAT THE MORE ENERGY OF A PHOTON THE BIGGER THE MASS IT POSSESS?

Ming LouLet us analyse these equations for this issue: E = mc², (1); E = p, p = mc, E = mc, (2); E = p, E = mc + p vibration + p spin (3); E = h c / λ, since c λ = f, E = h f (4).

7:44 AM
Also his moustache is off

@Slereah That's what matters in the end

Also Hilbert
Einstein's moustache was great

@Slereah Relevant:
In seriousness tho, he looks way different without the mustache

8:26 AM
is there any causality problem for any theory that involves both retarded and advanced solutions?
I'm not sure that's the case
Wheeler Feynman absorption theory seems to suggest it is a problem

8:42 AM
Muze has been suspended for a year

user228700
8:55 AM
@JohnR: Setting up from scratch is hard work :-(

user228700
And doesn't it seems a stupid idea to install back all my old apps. What if the malware comes back?

You've done the reset?

user228700
Yep.

The main thing is to copy data files e.g. photos to your laptop because you can't get them back.
Did you have apps backed up to your Google account?

user228700
I backed up as much data as possible.

user228700
8:57 AM
...the rest I don't particularly care about.

i.e. after the reset did you get asked if you want to restore from a Google backup?

user228700
Well, yes, I did, but I clicked "No". None of the important apps were hooked up with my Google account.

You should be fine then. Just reinstall the apps you really need from your Google Play page. They will install with the default settings so you will need to tweak settings as appropriate.
