Q: Font size, color and line height usability issues with new design.

Chris_OOur typography could be improved for better legibility I really like the new design and when it was first implemented I didn't really pay that much attention to some of the finer details like line height and font colors. I am using a 27" Apple Cinema Display calibrated with a Spyder 3 Elite col...

@JanFabry Has this design changed a bit?

user30
Sure WPA chat didn't have a textured background previously.

@ThomasMcDonald I have seen the texture since the WPSE graduation, with the new design
Maybe you never left the chat, and thus didn't refresh the page :-)

user30
Oh, I must just have never noticed.

user30
5 hours left in the election now :)).

@ThomasMcDonald Does that mean we can place our bets? :-p

user30

£10 says we will have at least one new moderator.

A: Flag weight audit

Grace NoteA new feature has been deployed that lets you click your flag weight to be brought to a summary of your flag history. If your flag weight is not visible (on account of sitting at 100), you can also access this by going to <siteurl>/users/flag-weight/<userid>, substituting for the site...

I'm especially curious how many will vote. The SO election had about 4000 participants, which is a very tiny fraction of SO traffic

user30
I would think it would be a smaller percentage than most sites.

Do you have an idea about the turnout at the other sites?

user30
One minute, I'll go find out.

user30
2:56 PM
Okay, this is a lot of data to go through.

@ThomasMcDonald Just a rough idea of some sites is enough, you know :-)

* Maths.SE election was first - probably before SE added Visited stat
** Only three noms for web apps so didn't go to vote.

user30
Fix'd.

"Visited" means "visited the election page"?

user30
yep.

Do you have an idea how many people are eligible to vote on WPSE?
I'm riding home in the next twenty minutes, will be back after that

user30
3:35 PM
@JanFabry 189

3:53 PM
@ThomasMcDonald Hmm, so we're optimistic and hope that 20% of them vote, we'll get 38 voters :-)
(At least I didn't forget to vote :-) )

user30
Yeah, looks like it

6:31 PM
Hmm, nobody else who wants to count down with us?

user30
Evidently not...

user30
I don't think I have OpenSTV on here.

I had it once to take a look at the SO election results, how it works

user30
Got the link

user30
6:45 PM
Alternatively, append pc rather than mac ;)

user30
The download links only work if you were eligible to vote in the election, otherwise they 404

I was confused how I should vote: would a second vote for someone else mean they could jump ahead of me?
But with the STV system this is not the case

user30
From what I understand, it's like the AV system they're proposing in the UK now.

user30
Albeit with STV your partially used vote can get rolled onto the next candidate

Yes, but only if your first candidate is excluded, no?

user30
6:51 PM
I think that a portion of your vote over the required threshold is also carried on.

user30
From what I understand

user30
So if you need 25 votes and 50 people give you as their first choice, 1/2 would go to you, pushing you to the threshold, and 1/2 would carry onto the next candidate

user30
I could be completely wrong though

Ok, but that is in the case when your first candidate is already elected

user30
If they get eliminated then your full vote goes onto your next choice.

6:53 PM
Anyway, it doesn't matter, it's not like there was a bad candidate in the race that would do nefarious things with our trust :-)

user30
Yourself? :))

/me makes note in "list of people to watch once I become elected as a moderator"
Ah, wait a minute, I'm confused with the summertime - we still have one hour left now?

user30
It seems like it.

user30
Time to crack out a beer, I think.

user30
7:17 PM
42 minutes. As you can see, I have absolutely nothing better to do.

user30
Apart from troll chat and write a blog post for Gaming.SE

8:01 PM
Congratulations to Rarst, MikeSchinkel, and EAMann!
(If my Open STV-skillz are correct)

user30
Doh, I'm late to the party.

And 59 voters, that's very nice

user30
Much higher than our estimate...

user30
Yep, measures up.

user30
Also very close by the looks of it.

Q: Congratulations to our (semi-)new overlords!

Jan FabryThe election results are in, and we elected MikeSchinkel, Rarst and EAMann as our moderators! A formal announcement by the community moderators will probably follow soon, but you can run the OpenSTV algorithm on the election file yourself to see the results. 59 of the 189 eligible users did vote...

I'm off to bed, see you soon!

user30
Aye, I'll take the round of beer then man! :)
