I know this isn't fit for a question here, so I ask here. Is there a "Only prevent Brute Force" plugin you might recommend of? I don't mean to a multi-defender such as "Wordfence", rather to something that will just give basic/decent defence from Brute force attacks.

@Arcticooling it is most likely that no wordpress site was actually ever hacked from a BFA. just use and enforce good passwords
Anyway, the idea that you can succesfuly deny BFA just on input from one server is false in the modern net. What you ask for and even worse, server wide access deny instead of application one, is just more likely to lock you out of your site and server than to actually improve the security of your site in any way
You are more likely to get a much better result by forcing a two factor authentication, or use good SSO for logins, and that way just eliminate password alltogether.... but that might be problematic if you need to use XML-RPC for example for jetpack.
Remember, security is not a plugin or a method, it is a process in a context.

is it possible to add the default widget instance to a sidebar?
I filtered sidebars_widgets to add the default widget instance to the appropriate sidebar. however, it's not being automatically outputted using the call_user_func_array in the dynamic_sidebar() function.
I've verified the details about both the sidebar and the widget, both are correct. Why is it not being automatically outputted?
Does it have something to do with the default widget instance?
I've also tried to use wp_register_sidebar_widget() ...

Well I ended up doing it a different way... using the_widget(); but this feels bad, rather use dynamic_sidebar() take care of the output
