Have you thought about our discussion?
I've tried to get more attention to the problem - also by a bounty - but the interest is very low and I have the feeling the others don't want to see the point.
Do you think it's only a PoW problem?

Are you here?

@sigmabe Hi. What you expect as an answer.
Stackexchange is question / answer format. Not for discussion.
I suggest you post that on bitcointalk forum, more appropriate than stackexchange

Have you thought about our discussion and do you see any faults?
Ok, I will try it on bitcoin talk, thanks.

8:41 PM
I don't see major faults.
@sigmabe The miners would probably want much larger fee as they invested heavily in BTC.
I mean BTC mining equipment.
And they benefit from BTC.
That's what someone said.

Yes, this argument was there, but they can go to other coins.

Aha. OK.
But this is not true in practice.
Although it will probably be in future.

I think you can also realise the attack by your own and make it even better by using a short position.
I've tried to start discussion at

Yes that is better for discussion.
Post to development forum.
You dont have to be very precise and technical.
Your question on stackexchange is too precise.
Better was first question.

I think the main idea is very simple. I see now I've started in the wrong forum...

The issue is how to contact majority of miners.
But with mining pools having large share of power it is a bit easier.

Maybe you can do it by your own. Costs of majority attack are around 1 million $ today, that's still possible.

DOnt understand your last comment.
Cost of usual 50+1% attack is 2-3 billion$.
Your attack is much cheaper.

You can lend one hour mining power, costs are about one hour mining profits, thats about 1 million $ I think
How to do it concret, isn't the point, I think. If our arguments are correct, we have showed that mining costs must comparable with transaction value in PoW currencies.
And the simple argumentation is: Lend much coins and double spent it.
Costs are mining costs during attack and profit is the value of the double spended transaction.
If profit is greater the attack would work, doesn't it?
