@Mego Any thoughts on how the "See deleted posts" privelage will work, if at all?

Anonymous
12:58 AM
@Pavel Not sure. With how we're planning on doing things, we'll probably only need mods to be able to see them

Broke chat again, woo

lol
refresh fixes it

@Mego i got github to give us Axtell, can you rename the org to it?

Anonymous
Sure

Anonymous
Done - make sure to update local repos

1:24 AM
I'm pretty sure it sets up redirects when you rename stuff

it does

Anonymous
It does, but it doesn't prevent people from taking the old name, so remote urls can get messed up if you don't change them

@Mego setup axtell.vihan.org

@Downgoat Your program should be at most 30,000 bytes :|

@ASCII-only ?

oh yeah are you keeping the favicon
and +1 for australia color favicon

i feel ashamed for this line spacing
@ASCII-only how is australia color favicom?
australia flag and favicon share no color??

national colors are green/gold

1:42 AM
oic
brb launching ad camapign for kangaroo
@ASCII-only though probably not, I would like to make a better logo and now that we have a name it'll probably be a mountain or something

@ASCII-only The favicon is just the gradscript favicon
@Downgoat Or a penguin
Perhaps This one

how about goat

:O no legs
:O upgoat

goat has no legs
a goat without legs will have many problems in life

@Pavel i would but i cant find where i kept the source illustrator file :P

1:45 AM
@Downgoat Should have picked a name that had something to do with goats for that

wait nvm
ok will do
don't worry we will have both as unlockable mascots

@Downgoat I have the full quality SVGs for down and up, if it helps

nice, nice

You gave them to me for that TF2 RD map I never finished

@Downgoat +1 for mascot

1:49 AM
@Downgoat Will do

Anonymous
New domain should be working now

Anonymous
@Downgoat That's frightening

I like it

@Mego ok I'll go with the goat then
:P

2:00 AM
No no this is great

Anonymous
Maybe have the penguin sliding down the mountain?

@Mego HTTPS works but still there is the default nginx page

@Mego I still get Welcome to nginx!

Anonymous
It's happening for me, too

Anonymous
Fixed it - needed to reload nginx

Yay

wait what

2:02 AM
new domain isn't working for me

@Mego The oauth broke

@ASCII-only axtell.vihan.org doesn't work?

Both Google and SE

Anonymous
@Pavel Working on it. One thing at a time :P

It might take time for DNS to porpoisegate to australia

2:03 AM
> porpergate
@Downgoat That is better

idk to me it looks like DMV picture of penguin
how does this compare
or actually i can just remove the clouds

Anonymous
Everything should work now

@Downgoat works now

Anonymous
Keep the mountains, since we're calling it Axtell

2:06 AM
SE auth appears to be broken because redirect_uri is still old domain

Ninja'd

Everything should work now

@Mego is canonical_host updated?

Anonymous
@Downgoat Working on it next

Anonymous
Done

2:09 AM
ok cool that works

works

I think travis also needs fixing
it's confused about the repo name change
or no that's just github

Anonymous
I fixed Travis and Codecov

btw the PR is ready to merge but I'm not sure what's borking the tests

Anonymous
@Downgoat I'll figure it out at some point

Anonymous
2:11 AM
Also: I propose we start squashing PRs before merging them, so our commit history isn't ass

Anonymous
We have that policy at my work, and it's really helpful

That is a good idea
I used to do that for VSL but then I kept putting like 1000 changes in 1 branch and squashing that to one commit then results in a lot of info loss

Anonymous
So don't make your PR branches messy

it's not necessarily messy it's just that I have a branch "add backend" and to add the "backend" there's quite a bit, there's the entire LLVM bindings that are written there's a new scope system a new CLI a new build system, toolchain, error system, etc. and it just grows from there

I just git commit --ammend a lot

2:18 AM
git commit -avsS --amend -m $RANDOM ftw

@Downgoat If you're amending you don't need a new -m

Actually you do
Otherwise it will prompt

Oh right you need --no-edit

@quartata you can just use -C @ if you just want to supress the prompt

Anonymous
I do a bunch of commits, and then squash them when it's time to merge

12:11 PM
@Mego hm, is my e-mail address safe with Axtell yet?
like, I don't want goats or penguins to steal it :P
or even...sheep
oh, and I can't sign in with Google

Anonymous
12:36 PM
@EriktheOutgolfer It's stored in a password-protected database on a DO droplet where only two people have access, and those two people can only login with pubkey auth. So yeah, it's pretty safe.

Anonymous
@EriktheOutgolfer Goat still hasn't upgraded to the new version of Google sign in where we don't need to refresh keys every 6 hours

I remember that it also kind of has issues with Unicode usernames
ok, put my e-mail in

1 hour later…
2:01 PM
@Mego Can you make a cron job to refresh the keys

8 hours later…
10:31 PM
@Mego what do i need to upgrade do its the latest version of openid

10:47 PM
@Mego Again, using client-side auth is not at all secure since then everyone can claim to be anyone as the server can not validate the authenticity of the token. We use Google's (recommended) backend auth which is already primarily client-side except for the validation

Anonymous
11:02 PM
@Downgoat The id_token you get from getAuthResponse() is secure

Anonymous
The authentication is done on Google's side, so we don't have to deal with keys

11:24 PM
is user CSS a bad idea
also what does "suspending/revoking privileges" mean
things like answering/asking/voting?
also what does destruction mean
also:
email verification, rep history + recalculation, making dark theme background color better

@ASCII-only just use a userscript. We'll optimally have unlockables in the future though giving new themes etc hopefully

@Downgoat :| why no user CSS though
it will then be consistent across devices

@Mego We have to do some verification though to make sure user if not forging a fake JWT
@ASCII-only I mean it's open source, if it's something like accessibility then just leave an issue or make a PR

@Downgoat :||||||||||||| what if it's just personal choice

@ASCII-only then select a theme that you like
also I change the CSS very often and I don't want to have to worry about breaking user CSS
also then there's the security aspect of it

11:39 PM
@Downgoat ??????

wow six question marks what a distinct and clear question :/

css can impact security? O_o

._.definetly

also what do you use for ui
@Downgoat brb suing whoever made css this bad

@ASCII-only UI? we use scssssssssss

11:41 PM
*ui actions

we use javascript
because we don't need to use 23MB library to detect clicks

ok good :P
+1

it's really sad how most of today's JS devs believe "LIBRAR VREY SMAL ONLY 1.3MB"

understandable date syntax
@Downgoat >_> you're one to talk, main.js is 7.4mb

@ASCII-only that's cuz apparently browserify imports every nodejs file into the browser the moment I use 1 crypto function
I've fixed it but since we're doing travis deploy it isn't showing up
I'll have to fix it soon
@ASCII-only elaborate?

11:44 PM
@Downgoat *understandable dates. like SE's

you mean relative timestamps?

"yesterday", "n hours ago", "n minutes ago", "n seconds ago", else day/month/year
@Downgoat yeah that

> Formatting of dates and times in Flask templates using moment.js
._.

@Downgoat ????

@ASCII-only Flask is a python webserver
they are using a javascript library

11:46 PM
@Downgoat clientside?
@Downgoat why do you need crypto anyway
@Downgoat 0/10 browserify

@ASCII-only auth and a couple other things

@Downgoat every nodejs file?

@ASCII-only not going down this rabbit hole

@Downgoat it also includes souremaps >_>

@ASCII-only that's like 4MB right there
not sure if the debug flag is set during testing

11:47 PM
@Downgoat yes pls configure to make them put it in a separate file
@Downgoat but browserify generally makes massive files doesn't it

@ASCII-only it only has a 200byte-ish overhead but it's not very intellegent

@Downgoat i wonder how bad the time overhead is

my god
this uses eval

@Downgoat can't you use third-party crypto

and jquery
holy crap

11:50 PM
@Downgoat what does

@Downgoat what are you even doing

@ASCII-only It all links back to crypto

just format things clientside

7 mins ago, by ASCII-only
understandable date syntax
@ASCII-only that's what it's doing

11:51 PM
@Downgoat you can roll that clientside super fast and in <1kb
@Downgoat yeah but won't third party ones not take up 3mb

@ASCII-only wait what are you seriously suggesting rewriting a datetime library

@Downgoat no...
just a time difference function

@Downgoat but JS has time as double?
oh wait

@ASCII-only ??? did you watch video
@ASCII-only :O do austrlia fish have austrlia accent

11:53 PM
@Downgoat yes why

:O wow

@Downgoat :| pls tl;dr video?

reccomend fully watching video for proper effetc

@Downgoat MaybeLater maybe later
i mean i seriously don't see the problem, you have all the functions you'd ever need on the Date object
plus ms since epoch (that's correct, right?)

i have no idea what you are saying

11:56 PM
@Downgoat like what's problem if JS already did all the hard work for you
