In a system where you have content posted at various points in time and voting on that content, the FGITW effect is unavoidable. You can try to reduce it, but it will always be present.

It's really neat to look back through the commit history and see how far we've come in 9 months

@Mego The bigger issue here is that because of what you identified, answers with higher amounts of votes get more votes early on causing them to stand out more among newer answers.
If I go to a challenge or even a stackoverflow post
and the first answer has a lot more upvotes than the rest
i don't even really consider the other answers
@Mego This is a problem but I believe it's separate from fgitw
that's just how this format of website works

I've switched Axtell to system fonts

why? I liked the font

do you not like your browser font?

not really
it's probably like times new roman or something

what OS are you on

OS X

10:32 PM
yeah you'll get San Francisco or whatever the new Apple font is called looks much better

looks like Times New Roman to me, when I try it in about:blank

the old font (Roboto is pretty high up) so if you're on like android you'll prob get that
@quartata system font is different from the default browser font. it's probably times new roman for every browser, but system font for macOS would be SF/Helvetica and for windows it would be Segoe UI

oh oh ohhh
my bad
Still, I don't see what was wrong with the old font. especially if that means it's consistent across all devices

@quartata well for starters the whole font stack is around 2MB

how many glyphs of it do you use though. can take out the ones you don't use

@quartata I actually started working on that a few days ago

@quartata I mean you have all the font weights, and then italics, and there's the fact that for the monospace font we used extended charsets because they are languages that use uncommon characters

11:23 PM
changes should be deployed
