Hello, I am currently 17 years old and I want to become a walrus. I know there’s a million people out there just like me, but I promise you I’m different. Q: Reservations at a bar?

In Chapter 93 (part 3 of "Class Reunion") of the manga, Bartender, a customer who walks into Eden Hall informs Sasakura that he doesn't have a reservation. IIRC, I've seen this happen before too. Is it common for Japanese bars to require advance reservations? While I can understand booking tables...

@Krazer We do seem to occasionally get questions like "I've seen X happen in (semi-realistic) anime, does it happen IRL in Japan?". Those aren't really within the expertise of most anime fans (unless X is anime related). I'm not sure we should allow them, though generally I'm in favor of being more lenient whenever possible. If the Japanese culture proposal gets to beta we won't have to worry about that kind of question.
