got the impression that Netflix can do animated adaptations of Japanese titled but live action fails
though maybe it's Games VS Anime/Manga since the only ones i hear about is Castlevania and The Witcher and there is no Witcher anime (yet)

Castlevania is horrible IMHO.
First, it has the "edby angsty teenager" vibe, both in dialogue and toilet humor.
You know that game, Shadow the Hedgehog? Sega tried to give Shadow the cool action "Rambo" look by giving gun and making him constantly use curse words?
Same with Belmont minus the gun.
Plot, very vaguely connected to the games but I will recognize it COULD be (even) worse.
Artstyle - weird. Some are decent and look similar to the game style. Some seem to come out from that old Alexander anime. WHY?
Music.... weird. Seems almost like they have to be stingy with using the original scores. Almost they had to pay every time.

Question of the day. Am I mistaken or there is basically no videogame that lets you pilot an anime style giant robot in an anime style environment/plot (so, no Armored Core style warfare)?
Closest thing are probably some missions in Earth Defense Force.

not sure what you mean by "anime style environment" but the description of Mecha Knights: Nightmare and the looks of it makes me think of anime

there's also Mecha in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel though not sure how much you control them
all i've seen in screenshots is that at some point the Erebonian Empire has developed Orbal Mechs sorta like Renne's Prata-Mata but looking more Mecha (don't know if they are piloted or automated though)

M.A.S.S. Builder seems a nice idea, could become noteworthy if it won't lose itself in never-out-of-early-access limbo.

speaking of that
and while not Mecha per say, there's also White Knight Chronicles on the PS3
2nd game has your avatar get their own customizable Incorruptus
aside from that, Incorruptus move better (previous game they moved very slowly) and you have a standard attach that doesn't cost MP and because it also comes with the first game, making the mandatory fight where you play as the Dragon Knight alot better
