@Tonepoet it was licensed by Bandai but it expired and now Funimation has the license while this is a new dub, originally it was only subbed.....or at the very least Australia only got Subs
@Memor-X Oh, it was a Bandai license. Well that explains it I guess. I think Bandai also did a sub-only disc release of Gurren Lagann. @Forest You'll have to forgive me, but sub-only D.V.D. releases are extremely rare.
@Memor-X That's interesting. I don't have much from N.I.S.A. though. I haven't noticed it with Funi., A.D.V., Sentai Filmworks or Geneon U.S.A. though.
And yeah, I know, Sentai Filmworks is basically just A.D.V. wearing a fake mustache, but still....
@Tonepoet NISA did Toradora, Love Live, Yuru Yuri, Natsume's Book of Friends, Otome Youkai Zakuro, Persona Trinity, Katanagatari and probably some more i've forgotten. all of those were subbed only except for season 2 and the movie of Love Live and i think Toradora
they also re-release Cardcaptor Sakura but that was dubbed before them
Chroma subsampling is the practice of encoding images by implementing less resolution for chroma information than for luma information, taking advantage of the human visual system's lower acuity for color differences than for luminance.It is used in many video encoding schemes – both analog and digital – and also in JPEG encoding.
== Rationale ==
Digital signals are often compressed to reduce file size and save transmission time. Since the human visual system is much more sensitive to variations in brightness than color, a video system can be optimized by devoting more bandwidth to the luma...
YUV is a color encoding system typically used as part of a color image pipeline. It encodes a color image or video taking human perception into account, allowing reduced bandwidth for chrominance components, thereby typically enabling transmission errors or compression artifacts to be more efficiently masked by the human perception than using a "direct" RGB-representation. Other color encodings have similar properties, and the main reason to implement or investigate properties of Y′UV would be for interfacing with analog or digital television or photographic equipment that conforms to certain...
Hm, Horriblesubs shows that a mere 20 minutes episode of the same show at 720p is nearly as large as 90 minutes of material at 1080p from the download I used...
Problem is that I'm stuck with Tor for a while so I can't torrent or use XDCC. :/
So Horriblesubs' release is about five times larger per minute than my download.
It looks like H.265 is often around a fourth the size of H.264, which actually adds up with Horriblesubs' release being ~5 times larger than the download I have. I think the only reason it's so small is that.
I'm practicing understanding japanese by japanese subs of anime.
For this moment it is 10 episode of season 2 "Seitokai yakuindomo", the last scene.

After the bus incident, Raye Penber asks Yagami Light to keep seeing him a secret from the police, Yagami agrees and says "I won't tell anyone, including my father". Wouldn't Raye Penber ask himself why would Yagami Light think I know his father is in the police force? Doesn't it give a hint that...
