bet you during her Accession where Madoka saw all the timelines and everything Homura done, she saw Moemura and wanted so much to hug her
i can't remember if she did in the series or in Rebellion but i know she did hug Momura as a Magical Girl
if she hugged her during Rebellion then obviously it's an innate part of Madoka to hug Moemura that stripping her of her powers and memories will not erase
@Memor-X I'm thinking her overall progression as a character over time. It'd be hard to summarize, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about if you consider from the first timeline through to the last in the televised series.
Homura starts out so shy, sweet and affectionate in the flashback episodes, but by the time she gets to the last timeline she's ready to kill Sayaka and finally subcumb to despair just before Madoka uses her wish.
If we're being honest, I suppose Homura might just be more accurately described as a yandere archetype character if we look at her character development in terms of the fictional chronology rather than episodic order.
She just seems kuudere because she's almost at the end of her rope by the time we meet her.

Mami fits more that in one timeline when she starts killing the Puella Magi
Homura's personality after that being cold is more her trying to keep her feelings at bay, to not let the despair take over and thus her breakdown after we learn she can travel through time (before the flashback episode)
@Memor-X The key word here of course is trying. Trying and failing apparently. Kyubey's just counting down the moments before Homura finally goes over the edge. like all of its other victims.
Also, we could probably argue over choice of definition for some time. This is the top definition from Urban Dictionary by animebunnies:

Sweet at first but obsessive and violent over Madoka? Yeah, that description fits Homura quite well.
@Memor-X No sympathy towards her either though. Kyoko's not really much of a problem for Homura. Besides, it's not just Sayaka: She's also the only one actively trying to kill Kyubey. Even Sayaka doesn't try to do that, despite having every reason to want to do so.
@Tonepoet Incubators don't count, plus Sayaka hasn't have the experience Homura has with them as Homura knows they are being used to be turned into witches. Sayaka it just she's now a zombie and feels like she can't be loved again (which we know is not true *look at lewd moment in Rebellion*)
@Memor-X It's more than just the fact that she tries to kill Kyubey. There are many reasons why a non-yandere character might want to do that. It's also why Homura kills Kyubey, and when she stops trying that's indicative of her status: She's not doing it for the sake of the greater good; she only does it when he jeopardizes Madoka.
But I suppose arguing that the Incubators don't count has a point of validity when you consider that they too are like Liches, and unlike the girls, we don't know where Kyubey's phylactery is at, or if he even has one.
Of course, on the other hand, in order to learn that she probably successfully killed it without knowing that it would just respawn at least once.
It's certainly not information Kyubey would volunteer. He never voluntarily gives any information.
