@JNat work is calming down which is good because it'll give me a chance to do this "required training" that's a qualification for me getting a promotion

oh and i have to complete it before my promotion is finalized because it wasn't my choice to be promoted

@JNat i don't know to be honest. like for the past year my people manager has been saying in terms of pay i'm near the limit my current position allows so i should aim for a promotion which involved so many hours a year training, 2 project assessments and the completion of certain courses

yet this year after i came off from my annual leave i was being told by my people manager and my former team lead that they had put my name forward for promotion despite the fact i havn't done the required training

so i don't know if normally i would put forward my name or if i ask my people manager to do it

is it a different role altogether, though? Like going from a dev to a dev manager?

but it feels that other people putting my name forward before i met all the requirements is more for their benefit

if so, it's kinda bizarre that you're being pushed to a career change

@JNat not really, we have "Bands" which determine pay grades but it sorta shows your eligible for certain positions like higher bands shows you've had the training and experience for more management positions

so really if i get a promotion, all that changes (or so i've been told) is that i can get more pay when they do a review of it

@JNat oh i know if this was the case my former team lead would be screwed because there are a few tools he loves to keep making me work on and has never bothered to learn himself or get anyone else to try and work on them

i go, all that experience is gone

heh, you need to get Stack Overflow for Teams to document that knowledge xD

@JNat lol, i've documented the code and have instruction documents on how to run the tools, debugging, common pitfalls. none of it gets read

as soon as there's an issue, it's a vague email to fix the bug

I saw a few examples back then, they would just cut frames resulting in either out of sync audio or freeze images used to fill the blanks

@Memor-X a sample here. Disclaimer. It is from episode 200 of the original show, and the original version had some doll anatomy clips. Still included in the comparison obviously, watcher discretion advised.

@Memor-X I don't know exactly what was cut, this is second hand info that was reported to me by friends.

Just pointing out that they were pretty heavy handed back then, censuring everything. Blood? had to go. The "died/death" words? Replaced by "disappeared" (so Krily was disappeared by Frieza I guess...).... and so on.

@SPArcheon i can get why some might been chnaged but how they did it is sorta weird how they did it

also seeing the Sailor Star Fighters i assume it's from the final season which i have never seen so i'm going to guess it was Sailor Moon VS Sailor Chaos which looks to have more action than some of Chaos's other forms earlier in the series

@Memor-X yep, my point here is not to blame or justify anything in that specific clip - I mean, the original fanservice was indeed a little gratuitous and unneeded. Yet the point was to show how bad they would edit out scenes.

So, I don't know what they did to Uranus&Saturn specifically but I do know they did everything they could to pass them as sisters.

@Memor-X the point is that they would also have removed any scene that could imply any other relationship.

@SPArcheon i wonder who the fan service was for as the manga was shoujo and localization got it all wrong who the target audience was supposed to be

@SPArcheon that would mean they remove nearly all of their civilian scenes. if i recall almost every time they are shown to be lovey dovey

@Memor-X they removed entire episodes if they were unneeded for the plot.

@Memor-X Look, I never followed Sailor Moon, I only know a little by passive exposure to the media. What I got is that the original comic was far darker than the adaptation

@SPArcheon DiC did that too. i have the original series on file and at one point the episode number of the files in the first arc get desync

The remake--- was it called Sailor Moon Crystal--- should be far more close to the intended original version.

not that having the missing japanese episodes help, the plot was altered in DiCs

well actually Sailor Saturn has always been effectively the "god of destruction" in the manga so the only difference was more how she locked between the manga and anime

@Memor-X yep, but I think in the original anime version she was basically demoted to just that, cutting out the "why I had to reincarnate in the most unlucky girl in the city" part

@SPArcheon oh no the whole accident with Pharaoh 90 still happened and used as a vessel for Mistress 9, but for most of the arc from what i recall they didn't even know about Pharaoh 90 and Mistress 9 which i think is about the same as the manga

yay.... I suppose I've just found another SharePoint question to ask. And I already know that as always it will stay unanswered ^_^
