Ave
@Gallifreyan poor gal

@Gallifreyan wait until you're off campus, that should be at most what, 8 hours?
@Ave because now he gets those extra powers he got approved for like last year

Ave
12:36 AM
@Memor-X yup

1:03 AM
@Memor-X I live in the dorms, don't get out of the campus often
It's not like one can't bring booze to the campus, one merely isn't allowed to
Not that I care. We sneaked some shot-size beer once, it sucked
I'd like to make some mulled wine though. And apparently I need white wine to make proper French onion soup

@Gallifreyan so you can't bring in wine for cooking? that sucks

I can, but it's not exactly according to the rules
And it's easier to get caught with it while cooking as opposed to simply drinking it in the room
So I make do with kefir, milk, and mineral water

1:19 AM
@Gallifreyan can't copy some japanese recipes without sake (rice wine)

Never tried sake
Maybe I should
Time to zzzzzz
Good night, everyone!

1:51 AM
@Memor-X yes you can
a fortified white wine, like dry vermouth, will do the trick
you can also use Chinese rice wine, or dry sherry if the recipe only calls for a small amount (1 to 2 tablespoons) of sake
if you want to leave booze out of the equation all together, you can substitute rice wine vinegar mixed with water or white grape juice for the sake at a 1 to 3 part ratio

yeh i'm not good enough of a cook to know what substitutes i can use in what amounts

E.g., if a recipe calls for 1/4 cup sake, you can substitute 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar mixed with 3 tablespoons water or juice
It's always okay to ask if you dunno
Better to admit no knowing than accidentally spreading misinformation imo

@кяαzєя true but ideally at first you'd want to copy the recipe exactly then mess around with subsisting ingredients and quantities

1 hour later…
3:10 AM
you don't need to be exact with cooking

@кяαzєя when i cook somthing for the first time i want to be as exact as possible, that way if it tastes like crap it's not because i stuffed up
@Ave now plug this into the Vocaloid Software and we're one step closer to Miku in the Synthetic Flesh

you realize recipes are just approximations to suit set palette. they are more guidelines than set rules. someone approximated that recipe off another somewhere or by trial n error

Ave
@Memor-X it's not good with forming words

3:26 AM
@Memor-X unless you stuff up following the recipe :P
@кяαzєя sure. but if you substitute multiple ingredients and it takes like crap you won't know which substitution is causing it, or if the recipe was bad

no one said to deviate
that's a different thing altogether
approximate != substitute

12:25 PM
I tried to reduce my coffee consumption to two mugs a day, but it's difficult :x

@Morwenn replace the second mug with something else, like cordial
i only have a cup in the morning and the rest of the day it's cordial

@Morwenn my coffee intake is going up every day :'(

@ToshinouKyouko how is that possible?

@Memor-X i usually only have 1 if i'm tired, but now i need like 2/3 to function at all

12:40 PM
I replace most of my dropped coffee intake by water, but sometimes I just want another coffee ^^'
@Memor-X Isn't cordial some kind of liquor?

@Morwenn oh yeh i forget the same term is used for booze. give me a sec
Squash (also known as cordial), in British English, is a non-alcoholic concentrated syrup used in beverage making. It is usually fruit-flavoured, made from fruit juice, water, and sugar or a sugar substitute. Modern squashes may also contain food colouring and additional flavouring. Some traditional squashes contain herbal extracts, most notably elderflower and ginger. == Drinks == Squash is mixed with a certain amount of water or carbonated water before drinking. The amount of water added is to taste, with the squash becoming less sour the more it is diluted. As a drink mixer, it may be combined...
^ cordial

eh, there isn't anything like that available at work ^^'

@Morwenn i buy my own
i get lemon, fruit cup and cola
i would get raspberry but the red stains my Mami cup

@Memor-X If I had to buy my own beverages at work I'd only be drinking water x)

@Morwenn well that's what cordial is, flavored water

12:49 PM
no, I mean bland regular tap water
I'd be too lazy to buy stuff to bring to work
