nitsua60 has unfrozen this room.

While the Death Curse is in effect any soul, upon its vessel's death, gets hoovered up by the Soulmonger.

@nitsua60 cool

It's stored there until the atropal consumes it.
(There's a 5% chance each day that a given soul in the monger gets eaten.)

@nitsua60 what’s a atropL
*atropal

12:10 PM
It's an embryonic god, basically.
It's got an umbilicus connecting it to the atropal.

@nitsua60 what’s it need the soul for?

If one destroys the Soulmonger any souls that are still in "purgatory"--not yet consumed by the atropal--will be loosed and available for resurrecting, raising, etc.
@Hobo_warrior Nourishment.
(It's an Acererack thing.)
I gotta run--dropping the kids off at school!

i’ll pretend To know what an Acerack is ;)

5 hours later…
5:36 PM
@nitsua60 And those that have actually been 'consumed'? Are they no longer conscious beings, forever alienated from any kind of afterlife except perhaps something like limbo or non-existence?

5:46 PM
@Piomicron They're just gone. Done. Kaput. Fine.
Whatever usually happens to souls in your setting, it ain't happening to these ones.

@nitsua60 Bummer. I kinda dislike whenever that happens in fiction with afterlives. It would also kinda ruin the mood I had in mind. Ah well.

I mean, it's your game, do whatever you want. But that's how it's written.
Souls are the nom-nom of the growing godling.

6:06 PM
@nitsua60 But then... wouldn't killing someone with it active (or feeding them to the Barghest) who has the eye of Vecna...?
