@Zanna Oops, I had failed to consider that Launchpad would format the text "Debian Bug 758689" as "Debian Bug 758689" (linking to a completely unrelated Launchpad bug report that just so happens to have the same number as the Debian bug report). I had not been thinking about linkification at all when I wrote that. Hopefully readers will not be confused!

:) I didn't know that happened!
...in general, nor did I notice it had happened in this particular case

Yeah, Launchpad linkifies "Bug" or "bug" followed by an optional octorhorpe and then digits to the Launchpad bug numbered by the digits. I am not sure about the specific rules, though my guess is that it matches against something like:
\b[Bb]ug +#?(\d+)\b
...and links to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/$1 where $1 expands the capture group -- though Launchpad is written in Python, not Perl, so not with that exact code, at least not for generating the link.
You could check the source code to see. I'm curious enough that I'll probably get around to checking. Right now I am trying to figure out why Microsoft is the speed champion of globbing.
Anyway, I guess there's no point in my trying to correct the comment. I don't think Launchpad supports editing comments (though it does support editing bug reports themselves), and if I were to hide and replace the comment or post another comment to clarify, I think the main effect would just be to convert an already complicated situation into an even more complicated situation.
@Zanna Speaking of unnecessarily complicated situations created by my own errors, I'm sorry about the badly muddled presentation of loop flow control in Perl that I subjected you to. In spite of my having to go back and correct things I said, do continue blocks, labels, redo, next, last, and the -n and -p command-line options make sense now?

Sorry! I'm travelling today and have been struggling a little this week to focus on stuff. I totally need to read from my last message (before today) and reply to some of what you said. I am just waiting to be in my right mind, so I can absorb things

No problem. And definitely no apology necessary!
