that's interesting... it is quite popular here. It makes amazing chips and is really easy to cook... today I mashed it with some tempering and baby and I both ate it

it's mostly eaten in Africa I think

when boiled and mashed it is great for dipping into spicy sauce

While we don't have "real" yam here, we (mistakenly) call the sweet potato root vegetable a "yam".

sweet potato is pretty similar, but yam has a firmer texture
