@yannis if I answer "lizard people" to "most political power" question, may I count on at least your upvote?
@Secret In a deep twist of irony, a very very large political demographic managed to combine a post-modernist approach to denying objectivity and rationality as the core of the political philosophy they espouse, while claiming they are the evidence based and objectivity based force of society (and their opponents are the opposite). The power of human mind to ignore cognitive dissonances never fails to astound me.

O wow, that's quite eye opening
I guess that will change how I approach political debates completely, hmm...

@Secret Political debates are rarely about facts. Even those where participants claim they are about facts.
The closest they typically come to facts is having someone cherry-pick some, and/or spin them with non-factual language, to fit a pre-determined desired answer. If you're lucky, this stems from subconscious motivated reasoning from a genione person. If not, from conscious effort to make one's political brand/tribe/ideology win.
I will honestly admit that all sides of the spectrum do it. I have specific beef against particular sides of the spectrum personally, so I am more likely to notice or care them doing it.

Yeah, the subconscious bias bit will be hard to avoid. It is partly one reason despite I am left aligning I love mingling with the right wing to hear about their views, it gives a nice force to counteract some of my leftist bias

Q: Why is "What are the distinctive political characteristics of individuals who self-identify with a so-called white race?" still "on hold"?
